The  meeting was called to order by President Tom Heifort at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2008 at the

Coon Rapids American Legion Club.

New Business

Financial Report – The Financial Report for the period January 1 thru December 31, 2007 was presented.

Motion by East Bethel, Second by Rum River to approve the Financial Report as presented.

VOTE:  Yes 11, No 0,  MOTION PASSED

Election of Officers

President - Motion by East Bethel, Second by St. Francis “Nominating Tom Heifort for President.”

 VOTE:  Yes 11, No 0,  MOTION PASSED

Vice President - Motion by East Bethel, Second by Soderville “Nominating Jamie Heipel for Vice President”

VOTE:  Yes 11, No 0,  MOTION PASSED

Secretary-Treasurer - Motion by East Bethel Second by Blaine “Nominating Jim Brennan for Secretary-Treasurer”

VOTE:  Yes 11, No 0,  MOTION PASSED

 

Umpires

Motion by East Bethel, Second by Blaine  “To retain Jim Jarvis as the League Umpire Coordinator a a fee of $400 plus expenses for the 2008 season.”

VOTE:  Yes 11, No 0,  MOTION PASSED

Jim reminded the teams that the fees approved last year for 2008 are:

  $95 one man 9 inning game                                               

  $170 one man two 7 inning games                                        

  $170 two men one 9 inning game”

An Umpire fee payment information sheet prepared by Jim was passed for review.  Also, a discussion about continuing the Umpire Evaluations was held with no decision being made.

 

Web Site

Motion by East Bethel, Second by Coon Rapids  “To retain Jake Maros as the Web Master for the Leagues web site at a fee of $250.”

VOTE:  Yes 11, No 0,  MOTION PASSED

 

MBA AD

      Motion by East Bethel, Second by Rum River “To place a $75 Metro Minny League AD in the 2008 MBA Handbook.”           

VOTE:  Yes 11, No 0,  MOTION PASSED

League Dues

      Motion by Coon Rapids, Second by Rum River “To keep the annual League dues at $125 for the 2008 season.”

VOTE:  Yes 10, No 1  (Blaine),  MOTION PASSED

 

By-Laws and Constitution

A discussion about changing the By-Laws by adding additional penalities for player / manager ejections was held.   This issue and any other changes to the Constitution and By-Laws was tabled until the next meeting.

 

Ham Lake Reinstatement

Ham Lake was reminded that the manager and player Justin Birkland must appear before the Minnesota Baseball Association Board of Directors to become eligible for the 2008 season.  The next MBA meeting is March 8th at the Holiday Inn in St. Cloud.  The team must notify Bob Zellmann, Secretary of the MBA, if they can not attend this meeting.

 

Region 1C Commissioner

A letter from Joe Jarvis, was read informing the League that he has resigned as Region 1C Commissioner.  The C teams are asked to provide names of those who could be a candidate for this position.

 

Bats

Tom Heifort presented information about ordering Granite brand bats.  If your team is interested you need to contact Tom by February 28th.

 

All Star Game

      An All Star game discussion and decision will be addressed at the March meeting.

 

League Schedule

The 2008 League schedule was prepared.  Each team will play a home and home format with each League team.

The League must register with the Minnesota Baseball Association by April 1, 2008.  If  payments to the League aren’t received by March 15th your team will not be registered.                               

 

Next Meeting

    

The next meeting will be after the March 9, 2008 MBA meeting.  A notice will be sent announcing the meeting.
