Please be advised that smoking in any area other than a designated smoking area is banned in the softball complex by City of Trussville ordinance 2005-046-ADM, which may be viewed at http://www.adph.org/tpts/assets/Trussville.pdf. While the
ordinance does not require TGSA to provide any designated smoking area,
TGSA has done so in consideration of our adult parents and visitors who
smoke.
In addition, due to the nature of the facility, the above designated areas may not be used if any teams or individual players are warming up or playing within 25 feet. In such cases, the parking lots may be used as designated smoking areas. According to the law of the City of Trussville (as well as TGSA's lease with the City of Trussville TGSA's own park rules and bylaws), no one is allowed to smoke anywhere else at TGSA, including the concessions area, pressbox, restrooms, bleacher areas, dugouts, fields or any other non-designated place in the complex. From an aesthetics point of view, the fields, especially the infields, are a secondary but important concern. TGSA recently spent approximately $8000.00 topdressing the infields with 100 tons of SafCoat crushed red shale and $3000.00 overseeding the outfields with a premium blend of perennial ryegrasses. Cigarette butts left on the field detract from the hard work of TGSA members and the City's Parks and Recreation Department. In the event that you find yourself unable to comply with the City of Trussville's smoking ordinance at TGSA, your only logical alternative is to find another place for your daughter(s) to play. In that event, please contact Tim Tuggle or Jeff McCreless for a prompt refund of your registration fees and directions to another local girls softball association. Thank you in advance for your help in this area. Please contact Tim Tuggle at 205-902-0708 if you have any questions.
