Canal Days at Waterloo Village

Thank You to everyone that made this event a big success!  We will be asked to return again!

The 27th. Regt. N.J. Vols. Co. F. is an re-enctment  group that specializes in programs geared to school groups, to Historical Societies,  and any other group interested in learning about the American Civil War and the participation of troops from New Jersey.  Depending on the program (and weather!), we are prepared to do both indoor and outdoor programs with soldiers and/or civilian paticipation.  We are also availiable for parades, living history encampments, and town historical events.  The unit has accumilated a large collection of items from the 27th NJ and other units for display.  For more info, please e-mail John Covert at  pamjohn@goes.com   or use the application to join the 27th Regt. STATE FLAG PROJECT:
We are now more than 3/4 way in our fundraising quest to raise $1200.00 for the purchase of the State Colors of the 27th Regt NJ (as of 1/09/07)

The 27th New Jersey received three awards on February 23, 2008 at a luncheon given by the Daughters of the American Revolution at the Lafayette House. The Ramsey/Stamy/Ayers Memorial Award was presented to us by the Chinkchewunska Chapter of the DAR. We also received a Citation from the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey, and a Certificate of Recognition from the Board of Chosen Freeholders of Sussex County for outstanding presentations of local living history.

St Patricks Day Parade 3/15/09 in
Hackettstown, NJ
Parade down Main Street begins at 3:30 pm.  Starting point will be on Washington Street by the Post Office (Same meeting place as Memorial Day)

Dinner will follow the Parade at Charlie Browns Steakhouse on Washington Street at 5:00 pm.  We have reserved a private room - please email "yea" (and how many) or "ney" to pamjohn@goes.com  A.S.A.P.

 Once again we will be in the 1st Division.  We will meet at the parking lot at the rear of the Hackettstown Post Office at the corner of Washington and Valentine Street.  You may park in this lot if you arrive early enough, but remember this road is closed early.  Parking is also allowed on any street except for streets closed for the parade.  Please bring caps and rounds since we will be firing along the parade route and at the cemetery.
For those that wish, we will be having lunch at Charlie Browns before heading out to the Newton Cemetery for the 2:30 pm service.

This service will take place after the Hackettstown Parade and Service.  We need to meet no later than 2:15 at the Civil War Monument in the County Square across from the Newton Post Office on Route 206.  We will march the 2 blocks to the cemetery for a short service.  Refreshments will be served afterwards at the Sussex County Historical Society, which Daniel Bailey was a charter member.
