          History of the Third MD

The Third was organized in Baltimore and Williamsport MD, in June of 1861 to Fedruary or 1862. From men from MD, VA, and PA
It participated in 60 various e ngagements, including Harpers Ferry, Cedar Mountain, 2nd Bull Run, Antietam, Gettysburg, and Petersburg 4 Members received the Congressional Medal of Honor. During its service the 3rd MD Marched 1771 miles, traveled 2903 miles by rail and another 289 miles by ship for a total of 4963 mile
