Indians Baseball Team FREE Admission into all HOME games!!
The Sleepy Eye Indians ended their 2008 season with a two wins over Lamberton qualifiying for Regionial Playoffs. It was determined that one of Sleepy Eye's long time players had been inadvertingly released last year by mistake so he was not on this years roster. He never played with any other team and was not told he had ever been released.
So now the win in playoffs reverted back to Lamberton playing the Brewers for draft picks for the playoffs for state. It was a real heartbreaker for the Sleepy Eye team that worked so hard all year and earned a spot to lose now because of a technicallity.
Not only was the whole Sleepy Eye team disqualified and the State ruled no one else was allowed to draft any of the Sleepy Eye players either. Even though all the rest of the Sleepy Eye players are legally able to play and all the other players contracts were in order and update.
So a very sad loss and end to an excellent season. The boys are very dedicated and played hard all year. They truly deserved the win. Best of luck to Lamberton who also has a very talented team. We will keep you posted expect great things next year as Sleepy Eye is a very young and talented team!
