Cats Aim To Reload, Rather Than Re-Build...

Weber State off on right foot towards returning to Florida for a second straight trip to the  World Series. The Cats are now in the off season, but are still hard at work. Coach Olsen says,"there are a bunch of guys playing summer ball, and a bunch of guys just working out and trying to improve for next year." "We had a really solid team this last year, and we will be even better this next year." The Cats have a strong recruiting class coming in, with the combination of freshmen, and guys returning from LDS missions. The Cats are excited about getting going again in August, and invite all athletes that want to try out for the team to give Coach Duncan Olsen a call or text  @ 435-459-9665
WORLD SERIES BITTER SWEAT ENDING FOR CATS...

NCBA World Series was a tough task for the Cats. 2009 Will be a year to remember for the Wildcats of Weber State. Another season filled with ups and downs, but ended in unfamiliar territory. The Cats set out this year with one goal, "Make And Win The World Series." This goal was closer than the Cats could have ever imagined. In game one of the Series the Cats faced a tough squad from the University of Clemson. An overall good game by the Cats was over-shadowed, by a couple of mistakes, walks, errors, poor baserunning, and 3 hitless innings were too much for the Cats to over come. The Wildcats had a late game surge, but came up short in the end 7-8. In game two the Cats were ready for the defending National Champs, Colorado State. Another outstanding outing from Kayleb Kester gave the Cats a chance. However a slow day at the plate from the Cats was just to much to overcome. The WSU Wildcats hit the ball all game, however most hits came with 2 outs and nobody on. This was the deciding factor for the game, the Cats put an overall great game on the line, but came up just short in a 2-1 nail bitter. "The defeat becomes a little harder to swallow after seeing Colorado State go all the way and win it's 2nd straight title." " That should have been us, it makes you think of really how close we were" says club President and the new Head Coach of Weber State Baseball Duncan Olsen. He went on to say, "we have a young team that got a lot of expirience this year, and it only makes our future brighter. People do not know much about the NCBA, or that Weber State has a team. The NCBA knew Weber State had a team, but after this year i think we reminded them of just how good we are." The Cats travel home and have another task infront of them, raising money to help pay for their trip to the World Series. Any help with fundraising would be of great help to the Wildcats. We would like to thank everyone who has helped support us over this past season, family, friends, local stores, the WSU sports and club office, and everyone else who helped make this a successful season. Coach Olsen finished by saying only 76 days till we start up and do it all over again.

ampions. WSU has built a reputation as being a strong team annually in the NCBA, but have not been heard from since the 2003 Championship. Club President Duncan Olsen says, " This team may not be as strong in all phases of the game, as we have been in years past, but we find ways to win. Each and every game it is someone new who steps up and helps us get the WIN. This is a sign of a good team, and that is exactly what we have been all year, a TEAM. Though we have had some hard times we have fought through them all, and put ourselves into a position to play for a National Championship." A starter going a complete 9 inning game, a back up catcher coming off the bench with clutch hits, or a DH busting out of a slump at the right time the Cats are ready for the World Series. The Cats would like to thank all their fans, friends, family and University for all the support over the entire season.

Weber State Wins Regional, Heads to Series...

Weber State University is heading back to the Club World Series!  Over the weekend, the Wildcats sweep through the Northern Pacific Regional tournament with three tough wins in a very competitive regional.  Weber State, Oregon, and Western Washington were all ranked in the top twenty.  The Cats beat rival Oregon 8-7 in the tournament opener.  In their second game, Weber defeated Western Washington 3-2.  Western Washington came back through the one loss side to meet the Wildcats for a secong time, with WSU coming out on top 11-10.Good pitching and timely hitting were the key for the Wildcats.  Tucker Rees picked up the win in game one, with Kaleb Kester getting the save.  Kester then returned the next day and went the distance allowing only two hits, and striking out twelve in a pitchers gem.  Adam Roberts started game three, with Chase Tutorow relieving in the fourth.  Tutorow finished the game allowing only one hit to get the win.  Hitting leaders for the Wildcats during the three day tournament were Brandon Lomax and Dusty Steele.  However, the hitting was well dispersed as every Wildcat batter collected at least two hits, while only striking out eleven times collectively.

The Wildcats will be returning to the Club World Series for the secong time.  In 2003, the Cats won the series.
