Baltimore Claims Title
THE 66th ANNUAL AAABA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT CAME TO A CLOSE ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON WHEN BALTIMORE DEFEATED JOHNSTOWN (DELWELD) 4-0 IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.

The title marks Baltimore's 26th overall title. In addition to the Championship Awards, several individual tournament awards were also presented at the Closing Ceremonies at Johnstown's Point Stadium.


BATTING CHAMPION - Neil Schroft (Altoona) - Neil had twelve at bats with seven hits including three doubles and a .583 batting average.
 

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER - Francis Brooke (Baltimore) - Francis pitched and was the winning pitcher in two tournament games during which he pitched a total of fifteen innings. He allowed only twelve hits, one walk, and no earned runs. He struck out eight batters.

SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD- Maryland State

The 66th Annual AAABA National Tournament got underway on fields across Johnstown on Monday. Here are the results so far:

NEW BRUNSWICK/BROOKLYN PLAY-OFF:

New Brunswick defeated Brooklyn in both games (6-5 and 14-9) of the playoff at New Brunswick. New Brunswick will advance to the National Tournament in Johnstown.

New Orleans wins 2009 Title
New Orleans overcame an opening day loss to capture the AAABA National Championship on Sunday in Johnstown. The Boosters defeated New Brunswick 9-0 to secure the franchise's thirteenth National Title.

In earlier action, New Brunswick defeated Brooklyn 6-2 to earn the berth in the Championship game.

Congratulations to the Boosters and all of our 2009 tournament's participating franchises. A special thank you to the Johnstown OIdtimers and the people of Johnstown, Pennsylvania for another great tournament!
