Althoff Repeats as MVCHA 2A Champions!!!
The Althoff Crusaders defeated the Granite CIty Warriors 3-1 in Game 3 of the Championship Round of the MVCHA 2A Tournament to win the series by taking the final 2 games in the best of 3 series. Freshman goaltender Adam Kassly continued his outstanding play by stopping 24 of 25 shots. Robert Hintz got the scoring started in the 1st period with an unassisted goal. Mid-way through the 2nd period Josh Hasamear picked up a rebound from a Kyle Chtaham slap shot and found the back of the net to put Althoff up 2-1. As it was in Games 1 & 2 Althoff took a one goal lead into the final period, but with 19 seconds left in the game, Josh Hasamear scored an empty net goal on a pass from Robert Hintz to seal the victory. It gave Althoff back to back titles and its third title in the past four years. 

Coming into the series Althoff's high powered offense was averaging 6 goals per game, but they were held to only 7 goals in the series, with 2 of those being empty net goals. In this series it was the defense and goaltending that led them to victory. In the three games Althoff only allowed 3 goals in regulation, all power play goals. Adam Kassly stopped 62 of 65 shots for a 95.4% save percentage.

Congratulations to seniors Brice Baricevic, Eric Davis, Josh Hasamear, and Robert Hintz. They finish their careers with a record of 72-18-5 which includes 4 MVCHA South Division Titles and 3 MVCHA 2A Championships.
