#9 Spanish River is One Better than #8 Cobras

The game between the Cobras and Sharks marked the first time these teams have faced each other in a non-district match.  Both of these team find themselves in preseason rankings.  The Sharks find themselves, just one position bellow the Cobras at  #9 in the Palm Beach Post and #14 in 5A State Rankings.

Park Vista almost got on the board first 10 minutes in, as Jenny Peterson sent a bouncing ball over the crossbar from about 15 yards out.  That was the best scoring chance the Cobras had of the night.  In the 22nd the Sharks capitalized on a mis clear, which sent their offense into one of the only odd man rushes in the game.

With the score 1-0 at half-time, the Cobras really started controlling the ball much, much more than the first half, but still came out empty on the scoreboard.  The Sharks played with 6 defenders against the Cobras which left very little room for the them to work forward.  Leigh Robertson played excellent in the goal making 6 saves in a losing effort.

Park Vista will begin their conference schedule next Wednesday as they travel to Boynton Beach.

#8 Park Vista falls to unranked Suncoast

Park Vista opened up the season against Suncoast.  The Cobras find themselves ranked #8 in the Palm Beach Post and #8 in the 6A state rankings.  Suncoast entered the first year they have not been ranked in the Post but are ranked #7 in the 4A state rankings.

There were a lot of questions begining the season this year.  One of the major questions was who was going to fill the spot of Katy Richardson.  Richardson who is recovering from surgery posted 13 shutouts last season, and an impressive 1.09 goals against average.  With all of the seniors lost last year, this position is the biggest shoes to fill.  Well, nerves and inexperience all played a roll and the question still remains after Suncoast defeated the Cobra's 5-0.

Suncoast scored two goals from 40+ yards, a couple on set corner kick playes and finished it off with a penatly shot.  Freshman Tiffany Pepe did hit the post 10 minutes into the game and the Cobras completely out passed the Chargers, but failed to score any goals.

The Cobras now will turn their focus to Friday's opponent, Spanish River.  They still have questions, but each game we will work towards geting them all solved.
