Boy's Hockey: "South Windsor Upsets No. 2 West Haven"

This is what I was talking about. A little limelight for the underdog.

All season, we awaited the big upset of the year. On Saturday, we finally got it. South Windsor defeated No. 2 West Haven 5-1 at South Windsor Arena. The Bobcats got goals from Nate Waldeisen, Conor Stanley, David Ouellette, Kyle Benson and Kevin Aucoin. Not to mention 27 saves from Christian Marchi and two assists from Stanley and Aucoin. But the story can best told by the start. The Bobcats came out sharp and went up 3-0 at the end of the first period and then 4-1 at the end of the second period. By the time the third period rolled around, it was all South Windsor. It was an all around team effort as South Windsor used three lines to get the job done and completely took the Blue Devils by surprise.

The Bobcats have won three in a row, have played tightly with Notre Dame-Fairfield and Fairfield Prep and now have momentum headed into next Saturday's big game against Hamden. South Windsor has been steadily improving all season, could the Bobcats now be finally hitting their stride? We'll find out soon. But like I said earlier this week, South Windsor has the ability to compete with anyone. The Bobcats could be a dangerous team.
