2009 Playoffs Trojans Vs. Braves

With only 9 players the Braves entered the Tournament as a last seed playing the Third seeded Trojans. The Braves led off the top of the inning with Ethan Whorton flying out to left, Kevin Parson followed with a strike out. Alex Cruce picks up a Two out hit, Jeremy Forrester works a walk out of the Left hander for the Trojans. Steven Cruce hits a bullet line drive into the Pitchers right shoulder deflecting into left field and scoring Forrester and Alex who both moved up on a steal. Jeff Knope ends the inning flying out to first.
Bottom of the First would prove rocky for Jeremy Forrester who has closed on occasion and plays Short Stop for the Braves who earlier in the week asked for the Ball following news that Braves Ace Steve McClure would not be able to go due to on going Arm issues. Forrester walks the first Three batters he faced all Three would eventually score in the inning due to a couple attempts to steal home were successfull. Forrester would strike out 3 of the next 4 batters he sees.
Jonathon Durbin leads off the top of the second with a K. Steve McClure pops out to Short, Larsen Harris lines the ball hard for a Two out hit. Ethan Whorton follows with a double and Larsen is held at third. Kevin Parson grounds out to short to end the top of the inning.
Forrester breezes thru the Bottom of the Second Recording his fourth and fifth strike out and forcing a ground out to Larsen.
Alex Cruce leads off the Third with a towering Home Run to left tieing the game up at 3. Forrester strikes out, Steven Cruce flys out to Short and Jeff Knope strikes out to end the inning.
Forrester puts it on cruise control adding strike outs 6 and 7 and a good play from Alex Cruce playing short stop and with 10 pitches the Bottom of the Third is in the books.
Durbin, McClure, and Harris all pop out to shallow left to a very mobile Short Stop for the Trojans to end the top of the fourth.
Forrester strikes out the first batter, The second batter makes a quick drag bunt attempt and is thrown out by Steven Cruce who makes a good play on the ball. Forrester then strikes out the next batter putting his strike out total at 9 and completes the inning in 9 pitches.
Ethan Whorton leads the order off in the top of the Fifth inning by reaching on a strike out with blazing speed, and will steal his way to third. Kevin Parson gets a hit and Ethan is caught in a run down between third and home and is tagged out. Alex Cruce flys out to second for out 2. Jeremy Forrester gets a hit and moves Kevin Parson to third. Steven Cruce is intentionally Walked bringing Jeff Knope to the plate who makes them pay for the decision driving in Kevin with a ground ball in the whole on the left side. Jonathon Durbin flys out to left to end the top of the Fifth.
In the Bottom of the Fifth Jeremy strikes out the lead off guy, forces the number Two hitter to pop out to Jeff in foul territory. Jeremy walks the next guy and finishes the Fifth with a fly out to Alex at Short.
Braves cool off in the Sixth with McClure striking out, Larson walks and is caught stealig, Ethan flys out to right to rap up the top half.
It becomes apperent to the team and to Jeremy that he is throwing a no-hitter. Trojans start the inning forcing an Error at Short Stop. The next batter walks. The next guy trys to bunt his runners over and lines the bunt to a diving Forrester who lays out to third base side and makes the grab and almost doubles the guy at second up with a close play. Forrester would go on to K the next two hitters putting his strike out total at 12.
Kevin Parson leads the Seventh off with a hit and is a Force out at second when Alex hits the ball thru the in-field. Jeremy Forrester gets his second hit on the day and steals second to move Alex to third. Steven Cruce hits a hard ground ball to Short Stop scoring Alex and collecting his third RBI on the day. Jeff Knope grounds out un-assisted to first to end the top of the Seventh.
Jeremy Forrester's no-hitter comes to an end off back to back doubles by Trojan hitters. Trojans clean up hitter grounds out to Steven Cruce at third. Next hitter strikes out for out 2. The next Trojan gets a base hit and scores a guy from third. Trojans rally would come to an end as they foul out to first and ground out to short.
Durbin, McClure and Harris go down quietly in the Eighth.
Defense steps up and puts out the top of the order for the Trojans on a great play in center by Steve McClure and good plays by both Cruce brothers.
Going into the Ninth with a 4-3 lead the Braves would add 2 insurance runs when Ethan Whorton collects his second hit and third stolen base in the game. Kevin Parson K's for out 1 and Alex Cruce collects his fourth hit of the game and drives in Ethan. Forrester then gets him an RBI while grounding out to short. Steven strikes out to end the top of the Ninth.
Steve McClure makes another good play on a line drive to center for out 1 in the bottom of the Ninth. Steven Cruce throws out a guy on a ground ball to third for out 2. The next Trojan draws a walk and Jeremy Forrester strikes out there last chance totaling his strike outs at 13 and giving up 4 hits and 1 earned run.
The Braves notch there first franchise post season win in there first post season appearence.
