The Stony Brook Womens Rugby Team is excited for the upcoming season. Winterfest in Buffalo is our first upcoming tournament and we are looking forward to start playing. The changes our team has made were for the best and we hope this semester will show that.
The Stony Brook Women's Rugby team wrapped up the 2008-2009 season with another winning record, but barely missing the playoffs. Fall 2009 brings much promise with many outstanding rookie prospects and a very tough and battle hardened corps of veterans as Stony Brook continues to post record numbers in recruiting.
2007 - Undefeated Fall Regular Season (Division 3 Metropolitan Rugby Union)
2008 - Semi-Finalist at Beast of the East Tournament (Portsmouth, Rhode Island; Biggest collegiate rugby tournament in the USA)
2008 - Big Apple Classic Tournament Champions (New York, NY)
The Stony Brook University Women's Rugby Club competes in Division 2 of the Metropolitan Rugby Union and encourages all female athletes of all levels to challenge themselves and come-out to play rugby. As always there is no experience necessary as the Black Widows uphold the doctrine of holding open try-outs for all SUNY Stony Brook students.
