Congratulations to the Fall 2009 Champion A's. They went 10-0 after defeating the Yankees in the Championship game at Dell Diamond on Thursday night, November 19th.
What's next?
For 2010, teams will start forming based on 18+ and 28+ age brackets. Some teams will choose to restrict themselves to the upper age bracket starting Fall 2009, including the new Dukes team, which will play with almost all 28+ players this fall. Teams forming for 28+ WILL HAPPEN over the Winter (offseason). What does this mean for players? If you turn 28 in 2010, you are eligible for both divisions. Players born after Dec 31, 1982 and have turned 18 years old are eligible for our 18+ division.
Austin Adult Baseball League
Welcome to the home of the Central Texas Baseball League, Inc. The CTBL runs an independent, adult recreational baseball league in the Austin, TX area. The CTBL organized in 2003 as a Texas non-profit corporation and offers Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons for recreational baseball players age 18 and older. Our league plays 22 games in the Spring/Summer season, with most teams eligible for postseason play in either the Championship bracket or the Consolation Bracket. Our Fall season is about 10 games from September to November. We just played our championship games at the Dell Diamond in August, home of the AAA Round Rock Express, affiliate of the Houston Astros. Eight teams played there this summer!
We organized as three equal 18+ divisions with two tiers (Championship and Consolation, both have games at Dell Diamond) for Spring/Summer 2009. Plans are in place to move teams towards forming as 18+ or 28+ this Fall, with age brackets to be fully implemented in Spring 2010 as separate 18+ and 28+ divisions.
The Texas Titans, managed by Rich Pidaniy, won the 2009 Spring/Summer Championship at Dell Diamond on August 18th. It was a beautiful evening for baseball. Rich has now celebrated the title at Dell Diamond each August we've been there.
