The CTBL tryout was Sunday 31 January. All players were drafted for both age brackets onto teams. You should hear from a manager by Tuesday.
It may still be possible to play as teams will adjust their rosters between now and Opening Day. Rosters stay open into the season.
FALL BALL CHAMPION A's
11/19: Thursday night, 7 PM, Dell Diamond.
Aaron Lippe and Cory Thell faced off in a championship matchup for the ages. Lippe's A's came out on top behind his complete game 5-3 victory over the Yankees at Dell Diamond.
Zach Oertli scored the first run of the night on a single by Philip Escobar, then knocked in the second A's run.
Carlos Soriano singled past a diving SS to knock in a run after Corey Thell reached. Jeff Lilly drilled a single to tie the game 2-2.
Philip Escobar hit a grounder to short and Brandeaux Tourville's throw home was wide, scoring two runs. A HBP drove in the fifth A's run.
In the top of the last inning, Cory Thell again dropped a hit in on the right field line for a double to make it 5-3 but the score stood and the A's finished their perfect fall season.
From our January managers' meeting: Two more expansion teams formed this year for the 18+ division: the Aces, managed by Brandon Landreth, and the Buckets, run by Jonny Hernandez. Both managers have been playing CTBL for the past several seasons and are ready to take on the challenge of running their own teams.
The final count for teams is 18+: 10 teams, 28+: 7 teams. The Riverdogs moved to 28+ as their entire roster is age-eligible; the Dukes swapped places with them into 18+.
Tryouts were Sunday January 31 at Travis High School; the draft for each division was later that day. We didn't know there were so many 28+ pitchers not already playing, but they're snatched up now.
Team practices and scrimmages will start 7 February and Opening Day is on 7 March 2010. Please put in your practice slot time requests.
Based on last year's schedule plans, the season should run from 7 March to the end of July, with playoffs in August.
Once again, the CTBL will be back at Dell Diamond for our championship and consolation games at the end of the summer. Each division will have its own allotment of time slots.
