ESA's 2007-2008 Softball Team

Young ESA Team Starts Strong

The young ESA Softball team started out the season opener with a home win against Gann Academy. Sophomore pitching sensation Elena Macrelli battled the bitter cold and pitched a complete game earning the team's first win. She had finesse while on the pitcher's mound, but flashed muscle with the swing of the bat when inside the batter's box with two hits and two runs batted in. ESA played solid defense behind the two seniors who showed veteran leadership at third base with Joviane Cantave and the hardest-working catcher in the business, Brittney Carroll. In addition, two freshmen played key roles on the defensive side with Michelle Olson's rocket arm securing the short stop position as well as first-baseman, Michayla Goyette, filling in admirably for her predecessor. After falling behind early with a score of 3-5, ESA came out strong on the third inning, scoring 5 runs and never looked back. In the game's final five innings, Gann Academy managed to score only 2 runs while ESA put up eleven.

Practice Tuesday and Wednesday. Game Thursday.

Today's softball game at Newman Prep has been postponed due to inclement weather conditions. The next game is on Thursday against Woodward.
