We came expecting tasty sandwiches and all we got was 9 goals.

Eager to redeem ourselves after the jarring loss last week, the Loon’s wasted no time getting the game going.  Just 10 seconds into the first period Ken scored our quickest goal yet.  Other notable feats, Quick-draw McGreevy got a Hat-trick, Neary rocketed up to the D2 assist leader with a ridiculous 5 assists.  Not to be out done Mueller from los Diablos took the penalty minute leader spot putting last year’s champ McGinnis to shame with an impressive ability to tick off the ref.  Another potential first this game could be the first time a woman has been called a “Pansy” which I guess maybe was a compliment if he was referring to the lovely flower or the definition of “One who is of a feminine nature. Has Girly qualities.”   Not to be lost in mix, Kevin D had a strong showing this game with his first goal and two more assists. Through the game the Loons kept the lead Ken established 10 seconds in and at the end the Loons walked away with a 9-4 victory.

The Loons emerged victorious from the first game of the season against the Maroons.  It was a fairly even match up resulting in a 4-3 victory.   The Maroons appear to have been missing one of their key players but to balance it out they were also missing Baird.  New loons recruit, Amberson kicked off the scoring with an unassisted goal in the first period, quickly answer by the Maroons.  That apparently did not sit well with Cap�n Ben and the starting line because they quickly recovered the lead.  The 2^nd period was quite while Jon �I break sticks with my abs of steel� Scholten�s  and �no one can do it better �Netter��s�  strong defense kept our lead intact. In the third the �chestnuts� tied it up for a couple minutes before Ken/Ben/Casey power combo set that right.  Casey went ahead and fought the urge to take short shifts and stayed in to give us the one more goal and the extra buffer we ultimately needed to win the game.  

Next up, Nov 7^th we play against the members of our summer team (Butterflies) who have returned to the Ice Sages led by that Dave Shoestore (maybe misspelled) guy.  Like most reunions I expect awkwardness, tears, vomit, and whole host of other unpleasantries but it should be fun.
