A. Reed Pitches Complete Game Shutout in 15-0 Win Over S. Cobb

Mar. 22, 2012

 

Addison Reed pitched a complete game only allowing 1 hit in 15-0 win. Reed recorded his 3rd win on the season lowering his ERA to 0.44. Reed had great command of his pitches; striking out 3 while only allowing 2 players to reach base.

 

With six runs in the first three innings, KMHS left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A hit, an error and a wild pitch in the first inning helped the Mustang’s put some runs on the board early.

 

Tyler Stephenson racked up two RBIs on two hits for KMHS. Stephenson singled in the first inning and homered in the fifth inning.

 

Ryan McGrail, Tyler Reed, Corey Crunk, Joe Marlow, Devin Hamilton, Blake Glass, Stephenson, and Alex Darwiche each got hits for KMHS.

 

Darwiche and Stephenson led the team with two hits.

 

The Mustang’s increased their lead with four runs in the third. A clutch error scored Reed to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by a sacrifice fly by Darwiche that scored Tyler Adkins.

 

KMHS tacked on another seven runs in the fourth. The inning looked promising, as Marlow singled, plating Hamilton to kick things off. That was followed up by a hit that scored Crunk.

 


 

T. Reed and Mustang's Offense to Much for Campbell in 12-1 Win

Mar. 20, 2012

 

 

KMHS refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Campbell, recording a 12-1 victory on Wednesday at KMHS.

 

Mitchell Hammonds got the start and recorded his 3rd  win on the season. Hammonds pitched 2 innings striking out 2.

 

Harrison Rogers, Royce Inge and Ed Lott each pitched 1 inning of scoreless relief. Hammonds, Rogers, Inge and Lott combined for a 1 hitter.

 

With seven runs in the first three innings, the Mustangs left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

 

A 2 RBI double by Ryan McGrail, , a RBI single by Blake Glass, and in the first inning and a wild pitch in the second inning helped KMHS put some runs on the board early.

 

Tyler Reed was on fire for the Mustangs, racking up 3 RBIs on three hits for the Mustang’s, Reed doubled in the second inning and singled in the third and fourth innings.

 

KMHS added two more runs in the bottom of the third. The inning looked promising, as Reed singled, plating Devin Hamilton to kick things off. That was followed up by that scored Corey Crunk.

 

The Mustang’s increased its lead with five runs in the fourth. A clutch fielder's choice scored McGrail to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Dillon Felger single, scoring Addison Reed.

Marlow Helps Kennesaw Mtn. Down  South Paulding 1-0 

Joe Marlow had a good game at the plate to help the Mustangs to a 1-0 victory in seven innings over South Paulding on Saturday at KMHS. He went 1-3 and scored one run. Marlow doubled in the fourth inning.

Addison Reed looked sharp on the rubber. Reed held South Paulding hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

Will Griffin Recorded the Win by throwing four innings of scoreless ball for the Mustangs.

Ryan McGrail, Corey Crunk, Michael Ujjin and Marlow all collected hits for KMHS.

The lone run of the game for Mustangs as Marlow crossed the plate in the fourth inning on a groundout RBI by Blake Glass.

 

 


 

Will Griffin Stellar In Win 4-3 Over Marietta

Starting Mustang's pitcher Mitchell Hammonds showed good command, as he threw strikes on 52 of his 86 pitches. Hammonds struck out eight and walked three for KMHS.

 

Will Griffin came in relief and was steller earning his 1st win on the season. Griffin rose to the occassion with the game tied at 3-3, hurling three innings of shutout ball while racking up four strikeouts and giving up one hit and no walks.

 

The Mustangs took advantage of their offensive opportunities. The Mustangs manufactured runs with just 3 hits. Zack Chandler went 1 for 3 with a 2nd inning RBI single scoring Ryan McGrail. McGrail went 1 for 2 with a couple of walks. Senior Corey Crunk went 1 for 4 with a big RBI.

 

 


 

KMHS Losses Tight Game 4-3 to Etowah

Etowah took the last of five lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against KMHS, securing a 4-3 victory on Sunday at Etowah.

 

KMHS pitcher Joe Marlow had great control throughout the entire game, as he threw strikes on 67 of his 101 pitches. Marlow collected nine strike outs and walked none for the Mustangs.

 

The Mustangs were out hit 6 to 3 and came up 1 run short despite Marlows outstanding performance on the Mound.

 


 

Mustang's Hurler Reed Record's 7-1 Win Over King's Ridge

Mar. 10, 2012

 

Addison Reed recorded his first win on the season for the Mustangs. Reed pitched three innings with 6 strikeouts and allowing only one run. The Mustang's pitcher had great command of his pitches and was dominate on the mound.

 

The Mustang bats were alive throughout the game. As a team, KMHS had 10 hits. , Joe Marlow, Corey Crunk and Tyler  Stephenson lead the Mustangs each going 2 for 3. Tyler Reed, Ryan McGrail, Kyle Carrier and Michael Ujjin each had a hit.

 

Ed Lott pitched 2 middle innings of relief. Lott did not allow a hit with 1  strike out.

 

In relief, KMHS's Zach Goodman gave Kings Ridge fits on the mound. Goodman held Kings Ridge  hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

 


 

Rogers Pitches Mustangs to a 7-0 Victory over West Forsyth

Mar.8, 2012

 

Harrison Rogers recorded the win tonight for the Mustangs. Rogers pitched 4 shutout innings, striking out 6. Zack Chandler pitched 2 innings in relief, striking out 3. Royce Inge closed the game to secure the victory for the Mustangs.

 

Ryan McGrail went 2 for 3 with a double, Drew McCollum went 2 for 3, and Blake Glass went 1 for 1 with a 2 RBI HR to lead the Mustangs. Glass's Homerun was the first of the season for KMHS.

 

Tyler Adkins, Tyler Stephenson and Devin Hamilton each had a hit.

 


 

Mustangs Drop Tight Game 2-1 to Cherokee

The Mustangs couldn't overcome a 2 run deficit to Cherokee.

 

Chase Slone started the game and pitched well despite scored errors.

 

Will Griffin came in for relief. Griffin was on top of his game. He pitched 4 1/3 hitless shutout innings, striking out 7.

 

The Mustangs had 5 hits.Joe Marlow went 2 for 3 with a double and 1 RBI, Corey Crunk, Tyler Adkins and Blake Glass each had a hit.

 


 

Hamilton's 11th inning hit lifts Kennesaw Mtn. Over Alpharetta 4-3

The Mustangs put in a full day's work in an 11-inning, 4-3 win over Alpharetta Sunday at KMHS.

 

Devin Hamilton racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Mustangs. Hamilton tripled in the seventh inning and singled in the eleventh inning scoring McGrail for the winning run.

 

Mitchell Hammonds got the start  for the Mustangs. He allowed two runs over five innings. Hammonds struck out six, walked three and surrendered two hits.

 

Addison Reed got his first win on the season. Reed had great command of his pitches. He pitched four innings and allowed no earned runs on two hits.

 

Corey Crunk, Hamilton, Hammonds, Tyler Stephenson, and Alex Darwiche each got hits for Kennesaw Mtn..

 

Hamilton, Crunk and Stephenson led the team with two hits each.

 


Hammonds Pitches a Gem as KMHS Coasts to Win

Feb. 29, 2012

 

 

The Mustangs shut the door early on Woodstock, capturing a 9-0 victory on Wednesday at KMHS.

With five runs in the first three innings, Kennesaw Mtn. left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

An error in the first inning scored 2 runs and a two-run double by Corey Crunk  in the second inning supplied the early offense for Kennesaw.

 

The Mustangs were led by a flawless day at the dish by Ryan McGrail, who went 3-3 against Woodstock's pitching. McGrail doubled in the first inning and singled in the second and fifth innings.

 

 

Mitchell Hammonds baffled Woodstock, striking out eight batters. Kennesaw's pitcher gave up just three hits over five shutout innings. Hammonds recorded his 2nd win  of the season.

 

 

Jimmy Kelley had two extra-base hits for Woodstock. Kelley doubled in the third and fifth innings.

 


 

Kennesaw Mtn. Falls 9-2 to Woodland

 

Feb. 28, 2012

 

 

The Mustangs were held to just  two hits for the game. Tyler Reed went 1 for 2  with a double and Ryan McGrail went 1 for 2 with a run scored. Devin Hamilton had the only RBI of the game, scoring McGrail in the first inning. Brendan Lynch scored on a pass ball for the Mustangs only other run.

 

Mason Robinson lead the Woodland team with four RBIs on two hits for Woodland. Robinson singled in the first inning and tripled in the fourth inning.

 

Dalton Martin got the win for Woodland.

 


 

Marlow hits and pitches Kennesaw Mtn. to 3-0 victory

Feb. 24,2012

 

 

Senior Joe Marlow was strong at the plate and on the mound in carrying the Mustangs to a 3-0 victory over East Paulding on Friday at KMHS.

 

Marlow racked up two RBIs on one hit for kennesaw Mtn.. Marlow tripled in the third inning.

 

Marlow handled East Paulding's lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts. The Mustang's pitcher tossed four innings of shutout ball and allowed only three hits.

 

Even in defeat, Jeremy Howell played well for East Paulding.

 

Howell got on base three times in the game for East Paulding. Howell singled in the third and fifth innings.

 

Howell walked none and struck out one during his 1 2/3 innings of work.

 

Chase Slone rose to the occasion out of the bullpen for the Mustangs, hurling three innings of shutout ball while racking up three strikeouts and giving up four hits and one walk.

 

Corey Crunk, Marlow, Austin Matthews, Devin Hamilton, Tyler Stephenson, and Alex Darwiche each got hits for Kennesaw Mtn..

 

The Mustangs never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring three runs on a two-run triple by Marlow.

 

The Mustangs played solid defense to help secure their first shutout of the season.

 


 

Kennesaw Mtn. Tops Sprayberry 12-2

Feb. 22, 2012

 

Kennesaw Mtn. played inspired baseball tonight  with a 12-2 win in six innings over Sprayberry HS at KMHS.

 

The Mustangs  scored six runs in the third on an RBI double by Ryan McGrail, , , an RBI single by Tyler Stephenson, , and.

 

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

 

Kennesaw took the lead in the third inning and held on for the victory.

 

Senior Joe Marlow went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs, 1 BB,  for the night  adding to the Mustangs total.

 

McGrail racked up three RBIs on two hits with 2 BBs in 4 PAs for the Mustangs.

 

Michael Chavis had a good game at the plate for Sprayberry. Chavis went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. Chavis tripled in the first inning and singled in the fifth inning.

 

Mitchell Hammonds recorded the win for Mustangs. He allowed two runs over three innings. The Mustang pitcher struck out five, walked two and surrendered three hits.

 

Harrison Rogers tossed three innings of relief without allowing a run, striking out four while giving up two hits and two walks. Rogers also added a hit and RBI in his 1 at bat.

 

Kennesaw Mtn. tacked on another four runs in the sixth. The inning looked promising, as McGrail tripled, plating Tyler Adkins to kick things off. That was followed up by Devin Hamilton's double, scoring McGrail.
