Muslim Basketball League summer 2012 update:

Salam all,

Alhumdullilah, summer season has always been a hit within the community, and the administration is hoping this upcoming one will add to the success of the league.

Currently, we are planning to open registration Saturday May 26th, the weekend after the NMBT tournament in May (May 18-20th, Cal Poly Pomona). The goal is to allow teams to take full advantage of the tournament to scout for players, tweak their rosters, and to start getting in shape for the summer season. If you have not done so already, the administration highly recommends signing your team up for the NMBT tournament as it will give your teammates atleast 3 games to work out the kinks before the season starts in a league environment. Aside from this, the biggest advantage of the NMBT tournament is the opportunity to network with fellow Muslim ballers from across the United States. As always, we are not committed to just playing basketball, but rather building and improving our community while having fun.

Jazaks, Inshallah see you all in May!

NMBT-West Regional Announcement

Assalamualaikum,

As-Salaamu Alaikum. Insha'Allah you receive this email in the best of health and Iman. Al-Hamdulillah with the success of our Midwest Regional Tournament, we are ready to head to California for our West Regional Tournament. Chicago Pick Your Poison claimed the belt in the Advanced Division, with Lincolnwood Montenegro as the runner ups. Milwaukee MAS won the Inaugural Intermediate Division, while Barrington Takeover got second place. We thank everyone that made it out to our Midwest Regional Tournament.

The Midwest Regional had 42 teams from all over America participate as this was our biggest and most competitive tournament ever. We are looking for the same success at our West Regional Tournament in Los Angeles Insha'Allah.

As always, teams will be provided with shirts & numbers as a part of the registration fee. However, if teams want custom reversible mesh jerseys, full uniforms, or custom shirts w/ numbers, we can provide them to any team. We need you to send a request asap and a payment is due before any order is made. If you and your team are interested in any of the options, please emailinfo@nmbt.org.

This year, NMBT will allow 2 non-Muslims to play on each team. This has proven to make our Midwest Regional more competitive, and hope for the same result in Los Angeles. This makes the tournaments more competitive, and most importantly will allow us Muslims to give Dawah to the non-Muslims. Every team is recommended to have their players participate in the prayers and attend the lectures. We would really love to demonstrate to the non-Muslims how beautiful Islam really is.

We have introduced 2 divisions to our regional tournaments, Advanced and Intermediate. The Advanced division will be for competitive players of all ages that want to compete at the highest level of play. The Intermediate Division will be less competitive for all ages as well.

What is the National Muslim Basketball Tour?

What makes the National Muslim Basketball Tour (NMBT) different than your average Muslim basketball tournament? NMBT is devoted to serving the best interest of Islam in North America through our 3-day event. Our goal is to bring together Muslims of all ages to participate in the 5 on 5-basketball tournament. Along with the basketball tournament, there will be lectures held throughout the weekend, prayers held daily and networking between Muslims from different cities. Activities will be offered for both players and spectators. Most importantly, the event will enable people of different backgrounds to come together, meet new Muslims and create new friendships.

The NMBT is proud to present the inaugural season of its nationwide circuit. In this tour, there will be four regions: South region, Midwest, East and West Coast. The NMBT will strive to become a staple in the Muslim communities across North America and become an annual tradition in each region. The NMBT is a different and unique approach that brings together generations of Muslims from high school students to men with families. This unique setting will bridge together various Muslims by creating a strong bond.

The biggest benefit from the tour is that proceeds will go directly to a good cause. The committee will decide on and announce where the proceeds will go before each regions’ tournament.

*PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND ANYONE YOU THINK WOULD BE INTERESTED
