MYRTLE BEACH FOOTBALL announces 2012 Surf and Turf Kickoff Classic for Saturday August 25, 2012 at Doug Shaw Stadium!!!

Myrtle Beach football is hoping to take the next step when it comes to its non-region opponents. The Seahawks have agreed to host a four-team event, dubbed the Surf and Turf Kickoff Classic, next August at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. The games, which will coincide with Week 1 of the 2012 season, will be the first in what is expected to be a long-term deal that could eventually mimic one of the Grand Strand’s high school sports staples. “We’re going to have a big deal here with football,” Myrtle Beach coach Mickey Wilson said Wednesday. “It’s going to be very similar to the Beach Ball Classic. We’re going to bring a lot of the top teams in. We’ll have a big-time atmosphere for football.”

The collaboration between the city and Texas-based 151 Sports Marketing will commence next season with Myrtle Beach, Conway, Irmo and Northwestern. In 2013, perennial North Carolina power Richmond County and three other teams from the Tar Heel State will join the fray as it becomes a de facto Battle of the Carolinas. From there, it could continue to blossom. The goal is to build something that could make Week 1 of the South Carolina high school season a football weekend on the Grand Strand, Myrtle Beach Mayor and Beach Ball Classic Director John Rhodes said.

Myrtle Beach stiffles Airport 35-3 during the third round of the AAA State Playoffs.

Myrtle Beach shows its class in 1st round playoff victory over Hilton Head 64-16 and will host Airport Friday November 11th at Doug Shaw Stadium.

With temperatures in the mid-to-low 50s and a nearly constant drizzle, Myrtle Beach gave its shivering fans the go-ahead to go home early Friday night, riding a 51-point first-half eruption to a 64-16 win over Hilton Head in the opening round of the Class AAA playoffs at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. Myrtle Beach will be at home next week for the second round against Airport, which topped Lakewood 24-21 on Friday.

Congratulation to Myrtle Beach's Tyler Knox and Trey Vivan for their selection to the 2011 North-South High School All-Star Football Game. Your Seahawk family is very proud.

Myrtle Beach flexs its muscle in a 56-7 win at North Myrtle Beach.

Myrtle Beach wrapped up the second season – region play – with style on Friday night, getting four touchdown passes from quarterback Tyler Keane and a mostly brilliant defensive effort as it cruised to a 56-7 win at North Myrtle Beach. The Seahawks (9-1 overall, 5-0 region) wrapped up a clean sweep of Region VIII-AAA with the win, and will be at home next Friday for the first round of the Class AAA playoffs against Hilton Head. Winner of the first round of the playoffs will face the winner of Airport/Lakewood.

Myrtle Beach man handles Georgetown to win 5th straight region championship with 42-0 win at DougShaw Stadium.

Georgetown’s football program is certainly improved this season, but the Bulldogs were given a close look at what it takes to become elite on Friday night at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium as Myrtle Beach rolled to a 42-0 victory to clinch a fifth straight Region VII-AAA title

Myrtle Beach shows it's power in a dominating fashion with a 48-7 win over St. James Sharks.

It was almost all "Wilson's" tonight, Tramond Wilson caught three touchdowns, Quan Wilson caught a touchdown and Chocolate Wilson returned an interception for a touchdown to lead Coach Mickey Wilson's Seahawks to a dominating victory over the St. James Sharks.

Congratulation to Daquarius Wilson, Myrtle Beach's latest in Shrine Bowl selection! We are very proud!!

Myrtle Beach's offense heats up to spoil Socastee's homecoming 38-21!!

With a wave of Socastee momentum and Myrtle Beach mistakes overcoming the Seahawks early in the second quarter Friday night at Braves Field, they needed someone to make a play to stem the tide. The Braves had scored three times in less than three minutes, had just recovered their second consecutive onside kick and were poised to take a two touchdown lead with the ball at the Myrtle Beach 23. That’s when senior Kerry Chestnut and junior Sean Michael Orcutt converged on Socastee quarterback Jordan Renfrow to separate him from the ball, and Chocolate Wilson recovered the fumble to snatch the momentum from the Braves. Socastee wouldn’t score again, allowing quarterback Tyler Keane’s four touchdown passes to hold up in the Seahawks’ 38-21 win over the Region VIII-AAA and crosstown rival Braves.

Myrtle Beach uses second half surge to defeat Wilson.

The Seahawks rebounded from the long week by beating Wilson 31-6 Friday night at Doug Shaw Stadium. It extended Myrtle Beach’s streak to 15 victories against region foes.

Myrtle Beach survives tough South Florence Test, 31-24 at Doug Shaw Stadium.

The Myrtle Beach Seahawks almost got more than they bargained for in Friday night’s showdown with South Florence at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. Ranked 11th in the nation by USA Today and No. 1 in the state in Class AAA, the Seahawks (4-0) found themselves trailing at halftime and tied late in the fourth quarter before flexing their muscle. Myrtle Beach quarterback Tyler Keane found a wide-open Daquarius Wilson for the game-winning 50-yard touchdown pass and the Seahawks defense stopped the Bruins (3-2) on their final possession for a 31-24 victor.

Myrtle Beach Seahawks are now ranked # 11 in the USA Today's Super 25 National Ranking after their 49-13 win at West Florence!

Myrtle Beach's special teams comes up big in the 49-13 victory over the Knights!

FLORENCE -- Myrtle Beach has plenty of weapons on both offense and defense. Its special teams aren’t bad either. The Seahawks blocked two punts, returning both for touchdowns and also returned a punt for a touchdown in the first half in their 49-13 win over West Florence on Friday.

Myrtle Beach takes down mighty Byrnes Rebels, the #8 team in the nation in the USA Today Poll and ends their 71 game home winning streak at Nixon Field with a 28-21 overtime thriller!!!!

Football coaches tell their players that nothing good happens after midnight. Certainly that was the case for Byrnes High School in Friday night’s game that stretched into Saturday morning because of a pair of lightning delays. When it resumed, the Seahawks took all the momentum and the defense held Byrnes scoreless in the second half and won 28-21  in overtime. It was Byrnes’ first defeat at Nixon Field in 71 games, dating back to Conway’s 19-14 victory on Nov. 23, 2001 in the 4A state playoffs.

Myrtle Beach shows Carolina Forest who the CHAMPS are with a 31-0 domination!!

Myrtle Beach may be struggling on offense, but the Seahawks proved this de fense is for real. Coach Mickey Wilson’s team forced four fumbles and added an interception against Carolina Forest Thursday night at Doug Shaw Stadium. And after months about how the defense was going to carry the other side of the ball, Myrtle Beach did just that. “It’s good to be able to do it in the first ball game,” Wilson said. “We talked about playing physical, and that was the main thing we wanted to do. That defense has got a chance to be a special unit. They still have to get better on that side of the ball. But they have a chance to be good.

Cane Bay did exactly what it wanted to with the clock in the opening half. Unfortunately for the Cobras, that mattered little to Myrtle Beach and its high-octane offense. The Seahawks went up early on Cane Bay with several quick touchdown drives and went on to a 45-22 win in the second round of the Class AAA playoffs. The Berkeley Stags, last years defending AAAA Divison II state champion will be our guests next Friday nite November 19th at 7:30 pm for the third round of the AAA state playoffs.

After missing the past eight weeks because of injury, Golson threw six touchdown passes and ran for another to lead the Seahawks to a 70-0 victory over Brookland-Cayce in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs on Friday at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium, proving he is more than ready to lead his team into the postseason. "It's indescribable," Golson said of getting back on the field after completing 10 of his 13 passes for 281 yards before calling it a night at halftime. "You can never over look how much your team really matters to you. Not really worrying about the game, just being back out here with the fellas felt real good." Myrtle Beach destroys Socastee 62-7

Just two games into meaningful half of the season, Myrtle Beach dismantled yet another opponent, beating Socastee 62-7 Friday night at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium. And one week after beating Wilson 42-0, it appears that the Seahawks are on their way to another region title.

Myrtle Beach gets impressive win over Wilson 42-0

Myrtle Beach made it a clean sweep over the Florence schools. Daiquone Ford scored four touchdowns as the Seahawks defeated Wilson 42-0 on Saturday at Memorial Stadium in the Region VIII, Class 3A opener for both teams. With the win Myrtle Beach is 3-0 against the Florence schools this year.

Myrtle Beach brings home the Bell for the 4th straight year

Myrtle Beach didn't need any last-minute touchdowns this time. After consecutive weeks in which backup quarterback Mitch Campbell tossed late scores to push his team to victory, the Seahawks handled business from the get-go Friday against Conway, eventually winning the Victory Bell, 29-19 at Doug Shaw Stadium.

Seahawks nip South Florence with late TD pass

Mitch Campbell is making the most out of his chance at being a starting quarterback. For the second straight week, the Myrtle Beach senior rallied his team to a late comeback. Campbell hit Donte Sumpter on a 50-yard pass with 1:47 left to help the Seahawks to a 28-27 win over South Florence on Friday at Memorial Stadium.

Myrtle Beach fights back and takes the win against West Florence

Myrtle Beach High senior quarterback Mitch Campbell waited more than three years for his chance to start a game for the Seahawks. On Friday night, he almost waited until it was too late to take advantage of the opportunity. Playing in place of fourth-year starter Everett Golson, who injured his left foot and left hand in last week's loss to Byrnes, Campbell led the Seahawks on an 80-yard touchdown drive in the final three minutes of the game for a thrilling 35-31 comeback victory over West Florence.

Myrtle Beach loses to Byrnes 21-14 on 36 Yard TD with 24 seconds left

Friday night's rematch between Byrnes and Myrtle Beach was much closer than last year's meeting, although it appeared to be over at halftime for the Seahawks.

Myrtle Beach standout quarterback Everett Golson suffered an ankle injury in the first half and did not return, but that didn't stop the Seahawks from battling the Rebels to the final seconds.

Byrnes quarterback Zach Blair hit Evan Suddeth for a 36-yard touchdown pass with 24 seconds remaining for a 21-14 victory.

Myrtle Beach Dismantles Carolina Forest 63-6

It wasn't so much if, but when.  The answer as to when Myrtle Beach would make quick work of Carolina Forest turned out to be only a few brief moments. The Seahawks scored touchdowns on all six of their first-half possessions and went on to win their season opener 63-6 Friday night.

Myrtle Beach Dismantles Loris in CNB Kickoff Classic 28-8

Myrtle Beach looked as high-powered as expected, with senior quarterback Everett Golson hitting senior Donte Sumpter for a 34-yard scoring pass on the Seahawks' first offensive play. Loris had the ball first, but on second down, running back R.J. Brown lost the ball and Myrtle Beach recovered. Following Myrtle Beach's first score, Loris drove the ball 70 yards in seven plays and took an 8-7 lead with 15:55 left on junior quarterback Kentrez Hilton's 3-yard run. On the drive, Hilton had a 36-yard run and found Dominique Richburg on a 24-yard pass play that set up the touchdown run. Golson played two offensive series, going 6-for-10 passing with two scores (both to Sumpter) in only 13 plays. Myrtle Beach backup Mitch Campbell was even more impressive. Campbell went 6-for-6 for 89 yards including a 19-yard scoring pass to junior Tramond Wilson, who made a nice catch in the end zone on an overthrown ball. Campbell also completed two other passes he threw but they were called back due to penalty, including a 51-yard to Sumpter. Junior Vincent Hoover scored Myrtle Beach's other touchdown on a 2-yard run.|
