League Hopes For 30 And Up Division In 2010

The NYRHL looks to expand next season by once again offering a 30 And Up division.  There was interest for the 2009 season, but a spike of teams playing in the league forced the 30 And Ups out of contention.   As the word spreads around, the league hopes to spark up interest again.  This would give players time to form teams and grab a spot once registration opens.  The 30 And Up division will be treated separate from the main league, meaning teams will never cross over during the season to play each other.  This also gives the opporunity for players to play in both leagues.  Details will be announced here on the website as they become available.

Monsters Hope To Return, Challenge Division 1

The Montauk Monsters had a memorable 2009 season, capping it all off with the Moore Memorial Trophy and the Division 2 championship.  Team captain Jimmy Joyce looks to bring the team back in 2010 with the hopes of skating in Division 1.  The Monsters finished with a 12-1 record and the #1 seed going into the playoffs.  Joyce hopes to bring back the entire team roster and take a shot at the Empire Cup.  With the combination of Alex Leipsic (72 points) and Frank Guiffre (61 points),  the Monsters have plenty of firepower to bring to the table.  The team also has solid defense and goaltending, and if they can continue to play at this level, should be able to compete in Division 1.  Time will tell, and registration is still far down the road.  But we all love a little hot stove.  Keep checking back for more information as it becomes available.
