Nancy showing off her windmill pitching form against Southeast High School on Monday, April 9th.

April 12, 2007 ---- Jordan High School came to Roosevelt High School and lost to the Lady Riders by a score of 17-2.  Both Varsity and JV beat the bulldogs by this same score.  Osiry Sanchez pitched a 3-inning no-hit game and allowed two runs on three walks.  The JV Lady Riders fell behind the Bulldogs by one run in the first inning.  They responded by scoring 4 runs in their half of the first inning and then shut down the Lady Bulldogs the rest of the way by scoring 8 runs in the 2nd and 5 runs in the third before the umpire called the game and sent Jordan packing.  This was the Lady Riders' 6th win in league play and it puts them at 6-2 in league play and 13-5 overall.

Southeast High School came to Roosevelt on Monday the 9th of April and left on the wrong end of a 14-6 final score.  The Lady Riders kept Southeast at arm's length all game.  In the first inning, Southeast scored 1 run on 4 walks by Nancy Rodriguez.  We were fortunate that Southeast made two baserunning errors and took themselves out of that inning.  In the bottom half of the inning, the Lady Riders didn't seem to make much of an effort when batting.  We were fortunate to receive three walks by the Southeast pitcher.  The first five batters didn't do anything, but when Crystal Castillo came to bat, things changed.  Crystal hit a blast way over the rightfielder's head that went all the way to the batting cage.  She ran around the bases and hit the corners perfect and came home standing up for a GRAND SLAM.  We needed a boost and Crystal came through BIG TIME!  The Lady Riders then gave up another run in the 2nd inning, but responded with 4 more runs of their own.  From there on, the Lady Riders cruised to victory, leaving Southeast's team on the field after scoring four runs in the fifth inning and then having the umpire call the game because of the time limit.

The Lady Riders will be traveling to Huntington Park's Salt Lake Park this coming Thursday (April 19) against Huntington Park High School.  This game will probably be the game that determines whether the Lady Riders will be contention for the league title.  It is a must win for the Lady Riders.  The Lady Riders will be out for revenge having lost to Huntington Park in the first round.  They will have to wake up their bats early and keep the pressure on the HP Spartans if they are going to have any chance.  Judging by the big improvement the Lady Riders are making with every game that passes, the will definitely be ready.  See you at the game!
