The White does It SEVEN WINS!!!!!

The final weekend of the season held something special for the White Team. If they won two they would finish the season with 7 wins which is one more then what the St Tim's Red team had in the first season. 15 players of the White team showed up to accomplish this task of winning two. After batting practice the White team learned they have at least one. Brookhill finally had to forfeit both games because they only had 5 players. Brookhill and St Tim's then played for fun, which was great fun after the game everyone gathered together for a great BBQ.

The White Team finished the season with a record of 7 and 19. With the wins, St Tim's White clinched the 6th spot in the Tournament and will not have to play the Red Team in the first round.

The Tournament will begin on Sunday August 16 and will conclude on Sunday August 23. With double elimination the White teams goal will be to make it to day two.

First Annual St. Timothy's Softball Banquet
Plans are in the works for the first annual softball awards and dinner for St. Timothy's.  Both teams will be giving out awards, sharing war stories, and enjoying time together with friends and family.  Mark your calendar for Sunday, August 30 at 5:00 in St. Timothy's parish hall.

Spinach Strawberry Salad

1 Bag fresh spinach, washed, towel dried and kept cool if not eaten immediately
1 pint or so of fresh strawberries, cut up
1 cup toasted pecans - chopped (optional)

Dressing:
1 1/2 Tbsp chopped red onions, or 1 tsp dried, minced onion
1 1/2 Tbsp poppy seed
1/3 Cup red wine vinegar
1/2 Cup sugar
1 tsp dry mustard
2/3 Cup vegetable oil

For dressing, mix all dry ingredients together, then add onions and red wine vinegar.  Whisk continually and add vegetable oil slowly until well blended.

Add berries and optional pecans to spinach, then pour dressing over and toss.  Wait to mix all together until right before eating/serving.  Enjoy!

With St. Timothy's softball program growing each year, it was inevitable that a second team would eventually be necessary to handle all the talent. 2009 will be the year, as the team to be known as St. Timothy's White will be formed. The new team will feature some experienced leadership from the original Team Red as well as some talented rookies to fill out their lineup. Organized by Michael Deegan and Chad "Bulls Eye" Heupel, the new team will subscribe to St. Tim's successful formula of 60% fun, 40% winning. St. Timothy's Red will return with a roster full of returning players. Led by John Code and team founder Jim Miller, the red team looks to build upon last year's breakthrough season.
