LB Matt Christensen receives the RMFL Defensive MVP award

RMFL Offensive MVP QB Jordan Kjar
Utah Shock Fall Short of Ultimate Goal, But Still Consider 2009 a Great Success
Despite finishing short of their goal of a 2009 RMFL AAA Championship, the Utah Shock still was successful in other areas.
Bringing home the RMFL Offensive MVP award was QB Jordan Kjar. Kjar was able to lead his team to their first ever AAA Championship and along the way captured his first Offensive MVP award. Kjar, who was the reigning Overall MVP was disappointed in the loss, but is already excited for the upcoming year.
In the best defensive year ever for the Utah Shock, LB Matt Christensen was able to capture the RMFL's Defensive MVP award. Matt was able to lead the league in sacks and was in the top 10 in tackles. He accomplished all of this not even playing in all the games due to personal obligations.
The coaching duo of Jared Emerick and Chris Miles did exactly what people thought they couldn't do. They made a group of decent players, great. They received the RMFL's Coach of the Year award in leading their team to the championship game.
For turning around a lackluster Muddogs team in 2005 to a perennial powerhouse Utah Shock in 2009, and a total complete turnaround on and off the field, GM Kyto Khouang was given the RMFL's GM of the Year award by AAA Commissioner Dave Sire.
The Shock finished 10-1 and are heavily recruiting and preparing for the 2010 season. Look for old faces, new faces, and other exciting news to come as the season fast approaches!

Utah Shock Food Drive For The Utah Food Bank a HUGE Success!
The Utah Shock would like to thank everyone for their contribution to the food drive. A special thanks to Mountain States Mortgage, President JR Green, and their employees who teamed up with the Utah Shock in this cause and contributed over 200 items! Without their involvement, the food drive would not have been as successful. Again, THANK YOU!
The Utah Shock set a goal of 250lbs at the beginning of the season for their food drive. They amassed well over that amount as GM Kyto Khouang dropped off the food items. The total amount of canned food items came to the total of 428lbs!

Again, thanks to all of those who contributed and HUGE thanks to Mountain States Mortgage for teaming up with the Utah Shock to stop hunger in Utah.
The Utah Food Bank will continue to need food throughout the year so please, continue to support them.

"It's an attempt to show some of these kids some good, exciting football." stated Kyto Khouang. "I was a member of the Boys and Girls Club when I was younger, and I would've been tickled to watch any sort of football, semi-pro, pro or whatever. This was also a great chance for our team to give back to our community. So we decided to give them some tickets, and hopefully they'll come watch and enjoy the game as much as we enjoy playing it."
