VINCENT NOTCHES HAT TRICK AT AWARDS NIGHT
Eric Vincent’s fine play during a disappointing 2009 campaign netted him 3 honors at the Winnipeg Rifles Awards Banquet which was held at the Canad Inns Polo Park on Wednesday evening.
The 4th year linebacker & team captain picked up the Defensive MVP award and Outstanding Leadership Award, but his 3rd win was the biggest prize of the evening as he claimed the Rifles Team MVP prize. Vincent finished with 76.0 Defensive Points thanks to 29 tackles, 12 assists, and one fumble recovery, along with an interception.
The awards banquet led off with linebacker Mike Hauptkorn selected as the Rifles Rookie of the Year.
Second year Defensive Lineman Tyler Langlais claimed Most Improved Player honors.
Punter/Kicker John Szilagyi picked up Special Teams MVP award. Szilagyi was the 5th leading scorer in the conference with 40 points.
Jordan Balzar was selected as Defensive Line MVP, while Scott Parker took home the Offensive Line MVP trophy.
3rd year receiver Marsh Burnett-Joseph was named as the Offensive MVP and linebacker Chris Laubenstein who was the 2008 recipient of the Most Improved Player honor was the 2009 choice as Outstanding Graduating Player.
Scott Parker & Mike Hauptkorn were officially presented with their Prairie Football Conference awards. Parker was the lone Green Gunner on the PFC All-Star Team, while Hauptkorn shared the Rookie Linebacker of the Year award with Saskatoon’s Dylan Kemp.
Quarterback Ryan Marsch was officially presented with his CJFL Player of the Week award from his September 6th performance against the Edmonton Wildcats.
