Cortland State Hits Rough Patch, Looks to Rebound Against Rutgers, Bonnies, Ithaca

The Red Dragons have hit a rough patch these past couple weeks as in their last five games they have gone 1-3-1.  Although there have been many negatives about the teams play lately, including their third period breakdowns, the Red Dragons have had some positives as the scoring has spread out immensly with 10 different Red Dragons recording points in the loss against Niagara this past Friday.  Now with their record being 11-4-2, the Red Dragons look to improve that as they have three NECHL league games upcoming next weekend.  The game versus Rutgers University has been postponed to 2/12 due to the snowstorm on the east coast and that would be the Red Dragons next game.  With the NECHL playoffs pretty much already set, these games pack on a serious load, especially the Rutgers matchup.  Rutgers University needs a win against the Red Dragons to establish a bid to the ACHA nationals in Chicago, IL.  Therefore Cortland State has the act of the spoiler this Friday night down in Somerset, NJ.  The remaining two games after that are two games the Red Dragons need to win as they would like to have a couple wins going into the NECHL playoffs which are being held in Wyomossing, PA by Penn State Berks.  A matchup versus Oswego State is looking pretty promising in the Quarter Finals as that will account for a repeat matchup.  In the playoffs last year, Cortland State sent Oswego home as they beat them 5-1 in the Quarter Finals down in Somerset, NJ.  These next couple weeks look to be pretty big for Cortland State and pulling out three wins could boost their momentum as they head into the playoffs.  Again, the Red Dragons next game is 2/12 @ Rutgers at 9pm.  Then they cap off the season with two home games, 2/13 vs. St. Bonaventure at 7pm and 2/14 vs. Ithaca College at 5:30pm.  Come out and cheer on your Red Dragons!
