Arizona Downs CU in GlendaleCU played a lackluster game versus the traveling Wildcats of the University of Arizona on Saturday in beautiful sunny conditions at Infinity park in Glendale.
Spending the majority of the first half in CU territory Arizona was able to capitalize on 3 Buffalo penalties with 100% goal kicking to take an early 9-0 lead. With just minutes remaining in the half Arizona again punished CU infractions deep in their end with a quick tap penalty and two short pick and drives to push over for a try. Halftime score 16-0.
Arizona applied consistent defensive pressure to the Buffaloes continuously frustrating the CU attack. Early in the second half this pressure resulted in the AZ flanker scooping up an errant CU pass and offloading for an easy score to make the game 23-0.
CU adjusted and began attacking quickly from breakdowns and penalities and Stephen Demars scored a heady try on a quick tap underneath the posts. Shane Milek was later rewarded for his hard work and hustle with the final CU score of the day.
Final score was 33-12 in favor of Arizona. |
