Loons Winter 2009/2010 Season

Loons kick off season with a win!

The Loons emerged victorious from the first game of the season against the Maroons.  It was a fairly even match up resulting in a 4-3 victory.   The Maroons appear to have been missing one of their key players but to balance it out they were also missing Baird.  New loons recruit, Amberson kicked off the scoring with an unassisted goal in the first period, quickly answer by the Maroons.  That apparently did not sit well with Cap’n Ben and the starting line because they quickly recovered the lead.  The 2nd period was quite while Jon “I break sticks with my abs of steel” Scholten’s  and “no one can do it better “Netter”’s”  strong defense kept our lead intact. In the third the “chestnuts” tied it up for a couple minutes before Ken/Ben/Casey power combo set that right.  Casey went ahead and fought the urge to take short shifts and stayed in to give us the one more goal and the extra buffer we ultimately needed to win the game.

Next up, Nov 7th we play against the members of our summer team (Butterflies) who have returned to the Ice Sages led by that Dave Shoestore (maybe misspelled) guy.  Like most reunions I expect awkwardness, tears, vomit, and whole host of other unpleasantries but it should be fun.

Lazy website admin updates site day before game.

The full season schedule is released and the site has been updated with all the new game dates.  We have the honor of kicking off the first game of the D2 season against the Maroons on Sunday Oct 25th at 7:40pm in the HP (South side).  Like the Loons it appears that some of the last year Maroons have moved up to D1 making an unpredictable match up.  A good strategy for the loons would be to come at them hard in the first period while they are still foggy from the BenGay fumes.  In keeping with tradition Bibro will miss the first game thanks to his bum knee.

Loons prepare for Winter 2009/2010 Season

Thanks to Ben's recruiting efforts the Loons have filled most of the open spots on the roster and will be back for the Winter 09/10 season.  We will have a lot of new faces this year.  In October we have a scrimmage against the Northern Horde and a practice with Chaos set up for our pre-season preperation.
