Northern Arizona University announces 2010 captains

Northern Arizona University men’s lacrosse club and head coach Ryan Hanavan are pleased to announce the 2010 team captains.  Seniors Troy Elliot and Drew Robertson, and Sophomore Brett Achilles have been selected by their peers to lead the Lumberjacks into the 2010 season.

“I couldn’t be happier with the captain selections this year,” said Coach Hanavan.  “We have great team chemistry right now and these three guys are a big reason for that dynamic.”

Troy, right, (Gilbert, Arizona/Mesquite HS) is the team founder, former player coach, and a three-time RMLC DII all conference selection (1^st team, 2007; 3^rd team, 2008; and 2^nd team, 2009).  Troy has started the last three years at attack and is currently second on the team’s all-time points list.

Drew, left, (Centennial, Colorado/Arapahoe HS) enters his senior year as a workhorse splitting time at midfield and attack.  Drew will be anchoring the midfield this season and working with the special teams units.

Brett, center, (Gilbert, Arizona/Mesquite HS) is coming off a 30 point freshman campaign and will be starting at attack in 2010.

The Lumberjacks open up the 2010 season on Feb. 6 when they travel to Tucson to face the University of Arizona.
