Spring Season Outlook

Following a memorable fall that included a state championship for the first time in 19 years, Madison Men's Rugby looks toward a busy and competitive spring season. The season starts with a match at #14 VMI, in a rematch of the DII championship game. The following week, February 20, Madison will travel to Farmville for Longwood's 2nd Annual Todd Miller Memorial Tournament, battling the likes of Mary Washington, VMI and the hosts for the title. On February 27, Madison has their first home match semester against Towson and will face WVU at home again the next weekend, March 6. After a week off for Spring Break, Madison has its debut MARFU playoff match against #12 Temple on Godwin Field on March 20. A victorious match that weekend and JMU will be in the MARFU Final Four the following weekend; the champions and runners-up advance to the DII National Finals. Madison is then scheduled to host Roanoke College on April 3rd and will travel to Philadelphia to compete in the Philadelphia Collegiate Cup on the 10th. After its disappointing absence in the past two years, the Blumpkin Memorial Tournament will take place on April 17, at Godwin Field. If Madison earns a spot in the DII National Tournament, it will take place on May 1-2, at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA.
