JMU 12- VMI 33
After clinching a spot in the state playoffs, Madison went into their home showdown against VMI looking to avenge losses from the previous few seasons. The game started off slow with a slew of penalties from both sides. VMI managed to turn these mistakes into an early lead. Working hard, Madison was able to move the ball down field repeatedly but was unable to get over the try line and had to settle for multiple penalty conversions from Tyler Maccubbin. Down at half, Madison needed to dig deep to beat a clearly on form VMI side. Unfortunately, Madison's sloppy and uninspired play continued and VMI was able to keep the ball in Madison's half for most of the rest of the game. Few offensive opportunities appeared and VMI was able to tack on a few more points to get the score to its final of 33-12.
Madison's B-side put in a much stronger performance than their A-side counterparts. Facing a very good VMI side, Madison continually hit hard and worked together to get themselves in good position to score. Madison took the early lead and looked to give the home fans a victory to cheer about. However, VMI was able to scrape together two late scores and despite a very strong performance from all involved, Madison went down 15-10
