This is the web site of the Northwood High School tennis teams. The Gladiators participate in Division III of MCPS girls and boys tennis. The girls tennis team has its season in the fall and the boys team competes in the spring. Both teams are coached by Bramdatt Goolsarran. Student team managers are Caroline Carrington and Lynda Nyguen.

Tennis Players Honored for Academics and Athletic Feats

Four members of Northwood High School’s boys tennis team earned the Minds in Motion Award at the school’s Spring Sports Award Night on Thursday (May 17).

Northwood used the occasion in the school auditorium to shine the spotlight on its top performers in the classroom as well as on the playing fields.

Four players were cited with the Minds in Motion Award for recording at least a 3.25 average during the third marking period of 2011-12 at Northwood. The recipients were: Ethan Barbee, Matias Mazza, James Caruso and Darren Rollins.

Bramdatt Goolsarran, coach of the boys tennis squad, presented his awards for accomplishments on the playing courts: Darren Rollins, MVP; and Marlon Reyes, Unsung Hero.

Gladiators advance in postseason play

Several Northwood players won their first round matches in the 2012 Montgomery County Public Schools Boys' Tennis Championship.

The Gladiator racketmen continued their winning streak by defeating Seneca Valley High School, 7 games to 0. Northwood has 5 wins and zero loss in division; and has racked a record of 6-1 overall. The tennis teams meteoric start captured the attention of the Gazette Newsaper this week.

In a rare Saturday contest, the visiting Northwood boys tennis team defeated Rockville, 4-3.

Coach Bramdatt Goolsarran's Glad swingers raised their record to 4-1 this spring, the best start in the sport since Northwood opened as a high school in 2004.
