Many Shamrocks recieved post season honors again in 2010

 SEVERAL ROCKS RECEIVE POST SEASON HONORS
Several post season awards have been handed out and the list of Rocks receiving them continues to grow.   The Rocks held their Post Season Awards Banquet on June 21st and the following team awards were announced:
Impact Player - Brandon O'Connor
Silver Slugger - Brandon O'Connor
Pitcher of the Year - Matt Hammel
Gold Glove - Andy Gehr
Go the Distance - Andy Gehr
Most Improved - Austin Schneider

The All Hoosier Crossroads Conference awards were announced in June with five Shamrocks earning honors.  Brandon O'Connor, Matt Hammel, Andy Gehr, Nick Crouse, and Wade Burtron were named to the All Conference team while Jack Houtman and Andrew McCafferty were named Honorable Mention All Hoosier Crossroads as well.  The Shamrocks received the highest number of players selected in the conference.

The Noblesville Daily Times selected Brandon O'Connor as The Times Player of the Year for baseball.  This is the second year in a row that a Shamrock has received this honor as Kyle Kramp shared the award with Jake Wood of Noblesville in 2009.  Also making The Times All-Hamilton County Team were Andy Gehr and Matt Hammel while Wade Burtron, Brad Speek, and Jack Houtman received Honorable Mention.  You  can read more about this award at:  http://www.thenoblesvilledailytimes.com/main.asp?Search=1&ArticleID=10471&SectionID=2&SubSectionID=2&S=1

The Indianapolis Star recently named it's Indy North team and Indy Super team.  Brandon O'Connor was named to the Indy Super team while also being named the Indy North Player of the Year.  Also making the Indy North team was junior Andy Gehr.  Wade Burtron, Jack Houtman, Nick Crouse, Andrew McCafferty and Matt Hammel all received Honorable Mention honors.  You can read more about the Indianapolis Star awards at:  http://www.indystar.com/article/20100701/LOCAL0103/7010367/1161/SPORTS0204/All-North-Player-of-the-Year-Westfield-s-Brandon-O-Connor 

The Indiana All State Teams were released on July 1 and senior Brandon O'Connor was named to the 4A All State Team as an outfielder.  O'Connor is only the fourth player in Westfield Baseball history to be named to the All State team.  He follows Kyle Kramp, Taylor Luna and Brandon Thomas who were named to the team in 2009.  Wade Burtron and Andy Gehr were selected as Honorable Mention All State.  You can see the entire All State teams for each class at www.ihsbca.org.

The Indiana All Star team was selected on June 19th and Westfield's Brandon O'Connor was selected as an Indiana All Star for the North team.  O'Connor is only the third player in Westfield Baseball history to be selected as an Indiana All Star.  He follows Jake Hansen who was selected in 2008 and Kyle Kramp in 2009.  O'Connor will be unable to participate in the three game series which takes place on July 8-9-10 due to a prior commitment.  You can see the entire North and South rosters at www.ihsbca.org
