District A-2 preview: Cashion's Jeremy Seaton is a QB to watch

At 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, he's bigger than a lot of defensive linemen that will be trying to tackle him.

CASHION — Jeremy Seaton isn't your typical Class A quarterback.

At 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, he's bigger than a lot of defensive linemen that will be trying to tackle him.

And whether he's throwing or running, Seaton makes his presence known.

Last season, Seaton guided the Wildcats to more than 33 points per game and a pair of playoff wins before losing a 52-47 thriller to Stroud in the quarterfinals.

And the scary part — Seaton said the offense is better.

"The offense has gotten a lot better," he said. "We're starting where we ended last year. We have a lot of experience on the offensive line and at wide receiver.

"It's real exciting."

Cashion coach Lynn Shackelford kept his team busy with camps this summer, often going against schools from bigger classes. The Wildcats took part in a team camp at Edmond North and reached the small-school finals of the Oklahoma Showdown 7-on-7 tournament.

There, Seaton showed that he has a good rapport with receivers Taylor Cochran, Britt Basler and others.

The offensive line will be made up of five players who started at some point last season, including sophomore Dexton Robertson, a 6-4, 300-pound tackle.

The defense will require some rebuilding, but the Wildcats have good size up front, and speed on the back end.

"We have a good core of kids coming back," Shackelford said. "After getting so close last year, that just added fuel to the fire.

"We have the opportunity to compete for a state championship. We just need to take advantage of it."
