Jr. Pirate Squads Fall Short in Championship Runs: Squirts and PeeWees Lose 7-2 to Jr. Thrashers in Semi-Finals to Each Claim 3rd Place in Golden Puck Tournament

CHARLESTON (SC)- The Squirt and PeeWees ran into excellent teams from Atlanta in the Semi-Finals of the Golden Puck Tournament in Charleston, SC. The Squirt Jr. Pirates lost in the 'A" Semi-Finals to the Duluth Jr. Thrashers "A" team 7-2. The game was tied late in the second period until the Thrashers scored 5 unanswered goals to win the game. The PeeWee Jr. Pirates also ran into a tough team from Atlanta as they lost by the same score of 7-2. The PeeWees battled back in the second period to close to 4-2 but the Georgia team scored three unanswered goals to advance to the Championship game.

Both teams performed well over the four day Tournament and 3rd place finishes is a testament to the good year both teams are having. Great job coaches, staff, players, and parents on a great tournament.

The Squirt Jr. Pirates (14-5, 8-1) advanced to the Semifinals of the Golden Puck Tournament by defeating  the Pelham (AL) Panthers 6-4 and thus finished with a record of 2-1 in Pool A. The Jr. Pirates finish as the #2 seed and will face the #1 seed of Pool B- the 3-0 Duluth Jr. Thrashers Monday at 6:30am. The Jr. Pirates lost to the Jr. Thrashers 7-2 to finish tied for 3rd in the Golden Puck.

The PeeWee Jr. Pirates (7-5-1, 5-3-1) finish with a 2-1 record in Pool A and clinched the #2 seed in pool play after defeating the Pelham (AL) Panthers 6-2. The PeeWee Jr. Pirates faced the #1 seed from Pool B-the Duluth Jr. Thrashers on Monday at 7:45am in the Semi-Finals. The Peewees lost to the Jr. Thrashers 7-2 to finish in a tie for 3rd.
