Arctic Lions and Northern Alaska Hockey Association Anouncement
For the upcoming season, the hockey associations of Fairbanks have mutually decided not to continue their collaboration under the umbrella association, Hockey Club Fairbanks. The associations intend to communicate and collaborate informally in the best interest of our hockey community. With this decision having been made, the Arctic Lions and Northern Alaska Hockey Associations look forward to continuing to provide the highest quality competitive hockey and player development programs moving forward. We look forward to revitalizing the Ice Puppy program (6U), developing a strong Mite program (8U), and continuing our historically strong comp programs. We look forward to sharing more about these exciting opportunities with our community in the coming weeks.
Arctic Lions 16U 2018-2019 Season Plan
The Arctic Lions are excited to announce that Adam Powell will be Head Coach for the 16U Tier II team. Below is a letter from him in regards to the season.
Hello Everyone,
I am excited to present the season plan for the 16U Tier II hockey team. For the 3rd consecutive season, the coaching staff will be Adam Powell (Head Coach) & Robert Thomas (Associate Head Coach).
The tryouts will be held in the beginning of August. This year the team will be a FULL SEASON TEAM, WITH NO HIGH SCHOOL BREAK. We will play a regular season schedule in the Alaska State Hockey Association League. Once high school break starts, we will play Tier 1 teams from Anchorage, both in Anchorage and in Fairbanks.
We will be attending the Silver Stick Tournament in Las Vegas over Thanksgiving, as well as the Richmond Invitational in Vancouver, BC over Christmas Break. In addition, we will be attending a third tournament out of state that will be announced before tryouts.
The coaches will be organizing a summertime workout plan with Eric Cooper once we get a list of interested players. This drastically helps the player’s strength, conditioning, and confidence. If you do have interest in this off-season workout plan, please email me at coachadampowell@gmail.com. This is open to all players interested in trying out for the 16U Tier II team.
The last two seasons we have had the pleasure of seeing kids excel both on and off the ice. We have set a new standard of how a 16u program gives back to the community, hockey community, and local charities. We look forward to coaching this amazing age group again for the 2018-2019 season.
