Looking back at East Bremerton's 1973 and '74 state titles
Some scenes and Bremerton Sun coverage of teh 1973 and 1974 East Bremerton basketball team that won back-to-back titles.
The Bremerton High Knights will play a quarterfinal game in the 2026 Washington 2A state basketball tournament at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, at the Yakima Sun Dome, as the team pursues a second consecutive state championship. The Knights' title in the 2025 state tournament was the first for the school since 1974, when the Knights, then East High before combining with West High, capped back-to-back state championships with a win over Foster. The late Sun sportswriter Terry Mosher chronicled that team's experience a few years ago, and we're republishing it now in the run-up to this year's state tournament. This story was originally published on April 3, 2024. |
