WHO: 150 Area Youths Between the Ages of 11 and 15 Years of Age

MISSION: The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, with the support of the Kansas Army National Guard, is conducting its Fourteenth Annual L.A.W. Camp from July 21-24, 2009, at Lake Afton County Park. We are creating a partnership between law enforcement and youth by providing a positive experience using law enforcement personnel as role models, building self-esteem, confidence, and trust by involving the participants in activities that stimulates their interest. This will be an overnight camp and participants are expected to remain with their squads during this time period.
ACTIVITIES: There will be a show and tell to include: an air ambulance, firefighting vehicles, E.M.S. ambulance, law enforcement vehicles, and an Army Blackhawk helicopter flyover. Fourteen other activities are planned as follows:
Wall Climb Self-Esteem
SWAT Deployment Self-Defense Demonstration
Applications will be handled on a first come, first served basis. Applications will not be accepted after June 20th, 2009. Please fill out the whole packet. If it is not properly completed, there could be a delay in processing your child’s application.
If you cannot attend for any reason, please call Lt. Brenda Dietzman at 660-3880 to cancel. This will free up a space so another camper can attend.
If you are selected to go to L.A.W. Camp, an acceptance letter will be mailed to the address on your application during the first week of July 2008.
