JV Lady Dons Victorious on Home Court vs Monte Vista

Jessica Averill started things off in the right direction with a hard kill, after an efficient dig by Shannon Butler and great set by Emilie Kapp. Next, both teams exchanged points to a 7-7 tie (with Amador points coming from an Emily Diggins dink, and another kill by Averill). With Tara Shreve serving, the Lady Dons took a 9-7 lead, and never looked back. After a diving save by Meghan Burnett, and Cassie Carino with multiple nice sets leading to kills by Rachel Cilk, Laura Zollars, and Becca Wolfinger, the lead grew to 20-10. A nice set(Carino)-kill(Shreve) combo continued the home team scoring. The Lady Dons then took the set 25-12 with two continuous Aces by Zollars.

Building off the momentum of the first game, Amador took an early 10-3 lead off hard kills by Cilk and Diggins, with Kapp placing perfect sets and Butler defending the back court. Next, Burnett and Shreve executed a dig-set combo keeping Amador in the lead. Nicole Woo and Burnett continued the scoring spree with each serving for 5 straight points. After a Woo-Carino combo to setup a Wolfinger point, Carino executed another great set, which was smashed for the final point to win the set 25-6, taking the Match 2-0.

Good luck to the girls on Tuesday as they take on a very tough Cal team.
