Amador Improves to 11-0, Sweeps Livermore

LIVERMORE, CA. – Amador Valley (23-7, 11-0 EBAL) had little trouble beating Livermore (0-11 EBAL) 25-15, 25-19, 25-18. Leading a balanced attack were seniors Grace Vickers and Nikki Baker with 6 kills each. Junior Rachel Kinnard led the Dons defense with 11 digs.

The Dons got three early kills from Kinnard and took a 6-3 lead. Amador built up a 21-12 lead after kills by Vickers and Kinnard and a Livermore error. Senior middle Jessica Atkins had her third kill of the set to give the Dons a 24-15 lead and the Dons won after a Cowboy error, 25-15.

Vickers broke an 8-8 tie in the second set with a kill. Junior setter Kelsey Williams kill gave the Dons a two point lead at 12-10 and the Dons were able to extend the lead to 18-14 after a block by senior middle Kaytlin Doherty and freshman opposite Kristina Dunworth and an ace by Williams. The Dons pulled ahead 21-16 after kills by Doherty and Dunworth, her second in the set. Amador closed out the set 25-19 on an ace by Vickers.

Amador got off to a 3-0 start in the third set with kills by senior opposite Emily Pease, Williams and Kinnard. The Dons had a kill from junior opposite Becca Malmrose, a block by Vickers and Williams and two aces by Kinnard to take an 8-2 lead. A kill by junior hitter Eryn Powers gave the Dons a comfortable 12-4 lead. Livermore was able to come within five points, 20-15, but Doherty served four points in-a-row and Powers had a kill to end the set at 25-18.

Amador hosts Carondelet (8-3 EBAL) on Thursday.
