Metro West Spring/Summer League - 2010

Metro West is gearing up for its inaugural Spring season with a league unlike any that is currently offered. The Metro West league is founded on the premise that ideally teams would like to play in competitive games at a set time and field every game. That teams want to play games that are well organized and umpired at well maintained fields. That it is no fun to win or lose by 15 runs. That at the end of the season you know you played against the best competition the city has to offer.

Play all your regular season games at the same home field. You determine your home field. Metro West regular season games will be played in 5 regions: North, South, East, West and Central. So if you're from Quincy you can play in the same league as a team from Peabody. If you're from Natick you can play in the same league as a team from East Boston. But you don't have to travel to do it. (at least not often!)

The regular season will be played in 5 regions:

Group A plays in the North Region (Wakefield Field*)

Group B plays in the Central Region (Watertown Field*)

Group C plays in the South Region (Milton Field*)

Group D plays in the West Region (Weston Field*)

Group E in plays in the East region (Somerville Field*)

The regular season will begin at the end of May and continue through July with the Playoffs beginning in August.

This is a Slow Pitch Men's league that plays on Saturday's and Sunday's.

Space is limited - minimum number of teams per region is 6 maximum is 11.

Cost is $900 per team. Sign up and pay by February 1st and save $50.

ASA rules and regulations govern this league with minor changes noted in the rules section of this site.

Umpire fees are to be paid at the field at game time.

Game times are 10am to dusk.

* Final fields to be confirmed in January but you will be playing in a field centrally located in your region

A-Town Wins Championship

A-TOWN WINS CHAMPIONSHIP!

3 Games, 21 innings, 1 run difference is the tale of the tape as A-TOWN wins the 2009 Metro West Mens Championship by the thinnest margin possible. It was see-saw series of lead changes and comebacks that saw the home team win every game with a walk off RBI! After A-Town won game 1 in walk off fashion it was the OJ's turn to return the favor in game 2. When game 3 started you knew what was coming and neither team disappointed as the lead seemed to change every inning. A-Town took a 5 run lead going into the the top of the 7th and while the OJ's were able to rally to tie they couldn't grab any insurance. With the game tied at 14 in the bottom of the 7th A-Town led off the inning with an opposite field triple and from that point on it was just a matter of time. The OJ's intentionally loaded the bases but the die was cast and A-Town was able to knock in the winning run on a deep fly to center.

3 great games, 21 exciting innings and 1 HUGE run and A-TOWN caps off an undefeated season and takes home the Trophy.

CONGRATULATIONS TO A-TOWN!!!!

A-TOWN takes game one in Finals!

The Finals began with one of the most exciting games of the year as A-Town came back to beat the OJ's 26 - 25, on a walk off single in the bottom of the 7th. After a see saw battle that saw both teams take leads, the OJ's went ahead 25 - 21 going into the top of the 7th. A couple of quick hits got the inning started for A-Town who quickly put a couple of runs across but the OJ's battled back to get 2 outs. A-Town then loaded the bases after tying the game and were able to put across the winning run against a drawn in OJ's outfield. Game 2 (and 3 if nec) is tonight Tuesday 11/10.
