Mustangs Crush Jenkins 56-6

The Jenkins Cavaliers had hardly got off the bus when Chris Bowman scampered 8 yards for a touchdown. Morrison’s kick was good. Soon after Spencer Brown grabbed an Orth strike and took it to the house for a 30 yard td. Again Morrison drilled it. The third touchdown of the first quarter again would be a pass from Orth to Brown for 13 yards and it was 21-0 after Morrison’s kick.

The second quarter would have made UC’s Brian Kelley smile. It was a pass fest Michael Whitford a TD on a 10 yard pass, Whitford again on a 12 yard pass, and then John Schack for 28 yards. Morrison remained perfect and the half became 42-0 Brossart.

In the third quarter Bowman rushed in from the 5 yard line to make it 49-0 and.

The final would be 56-6 and suddenly the Mustangs are 3-0 have scored 116 points and allowed just 25.

Next up Elizabethtown (1-2) on the road a team that has won 42-39 over a mediocre Spencer County team and lost 66-14 to Male and 49-7 to Central Hardin both very big schools. It could be interesting. Then it’s Ludlow for Ludlow’s Homecoming. The panthers gave up 24 to Bracken Friday while eking out a 35-24 win.

Suddenly The Mustangs Are 2-0; Roll Over Polar Bears 38-0 At Thomas More

What a difference a year makes. The Mustang varsity football team not only won but crushed the Polar Bears of Bracken County 38-0 at Thomas More College Saturday afternoon and ran their season record to a perfect 2-0.

In doing so the Mustangs amassed a grand total of 430 years of total offense. That featured some balance with the Mustangs getting 145 thru the air and 285 on the ground.
Jesse Orth connected in the first quarter with Colton Boesch on a nice 6 yard touchdown to make it 6-0, but the kick attempt failed. Still in the first quarter, Orth unloaded to Luke Dischar this time for a 30 yard touchdown strike and suddenly, just as at Betsy Layne it was 12-0but the two point attempt was unsuccessful. The game would stay 12-0 to the half.

In the third quarter the Mustangs capitalized on some Polar Bear miscues and Senior Chris Bowman took it to the house with a solid 11 yard run to give the Mustangs a 19-0 advantage. Moments later it was Bowman racing into the end zone with a 2 yard run and after the Ryan Morrison successful kick it was 25-0 favor the green and white.

The fourth quarter was all Mustangs as well as Andrew Guidugli scampered into the end zone for 30 years to make it 31-0 and then Timmy Butts got in on the afternoon romp with a hard three yard rush, complete with the Morrison extra point and the Mustangs were victorious 38-0.

Bowman finished the afternoon with 136 yards on 15 carries along with two touchdowns, Guidugli added a TD with 92 yards on 8 carries and Michael Whitford rushed for 85 yards on 11 attempts.

Quarterback Jesse Orth completed 11 of 17 pass attempts for 145 yards and two TD’s. The Mustangs also recovered on 4 Polar Bear Turnovers.

The 60 points scored by the Mustangs in just two games eclipses the 59 scored all of 2008 and they are now one of just six 1A schools undefeated at this point. The 19 points allowed in the third best in 1A football.

Next week the Mustangs have a chance to make it 3-0 hosting Jenkins at Pendleton Co. at 5:00 Saturday. Jenkins is 1-2 but has fallen to Phelps 48-16, Allen Central 62-0 and defeated South Floyd 7-0. However South Floyd is 0-3 and ranked at the very bottom of Class A teams already allowing 117 points.

As one of our cheerleaders said before the game. “Wow it’s nice to be the favorite in games this year.” Quite a turnaround so far. Let’s keep it going guys.
