The Champions

Champions A Third Straight Year

Coach Mike Hasl might be getting a bit bored coaching in the Northern Kentucky Freshmen Tournament. All he and his team do is win it every year. The Lady ‘Stangs won the championship in exciting fashion Sunday in a second shootout. It was their third straight title in the tournament featuring all of Northern Ky’s top teams. This time they did it without allowing a goal in regulation FOR THE ENTIRE TOURNAMENT.

The Lady ‘Stangs opened play with a 5-0 win over Newport Central Catholic and then concluded pool play with a 3-0 shutout of Campbell County

On Sunday it was the Highlands Lady Birds and when the smoke cleared the Lady ‘Stangs won again 2-0.
 Jamie Reis
That set up the championship game with Notre Dame Academy and after two halves and a 34 minute rain and thunder delay the scorer was 0-0. The two teams went to a shootout and each team connected on two goals. The second shootout is sudden death basically and both teams connected on their first two shots….then the Pandas missed and eightgrader Jamie Reis drilled the left corner of the net and Bishop Brossart was the Champions…AGAIN.

"I am extremely proud of the freshmen girls who dominated the mid-field throughout the weekend and took advantage of goal scoring opportunities!!," exclaimed Hasl. "Savor YOUR 2009 Freshmen Tournament Championship."
