Belen advances to Regional Semi-Final

 Region 4-4A quarterfinals -- Belen 5, Pines Charter 4 -- Byron Soler's day at the plate was a lot like Belen's season -- unremarkable at the start and definitely worth the wait.

But unlike their power-hitting catcher's regional quarterfinal two-run walk-off home run Tuesday, the Wolverine's season has still yet to land.

''I maybe shouldn't have swung at that ball, but I'm glad I did,'' said Soler after his performance gave Belen the victory. ``It was kind of low, but I saw it, swung at it, and it went right out.''

Soler's towering two-out, full-count shot punctuated a late-inning rally that saw the Wolverines score all five of their runs in the sixth and seventh. The run production coincided with Pines Charter pitcher Chris Fox being relieved by John Hollnagel.

Belen will look to keep the magic going at home against the winner of Cocoa Beach and Jensen Beach in the District 4-4A Semifinals on Friday at 4 p.m.
