Varsity Schedule Released 10/13/2009Lake Worth: Park Vista announced the varsity schedule for the 2009-2010 season. As in past years, the Cobras will open their season against Suncoast. Last season, Park Vista spotted Suncoast a 2-0 lead before playing an incredible second half and scoring the equalizer for the tie. Spanish River will come to town for the first time as a non-district team. The Cobras defeated Spanish River twice last year, including eliminating them from the district tournament. The Sharks will be out for some revenge. Conference play will begin the second week as the Cobra's travel to Boynton Beach and Lake Worth as they try to defend their Central Conference Championship. The district for this year has changed and it will be Palm Beach Gardens introducing them to the new district followed by Jupiter. Jupiter was the second seed last year in the 9A district but was defeated by Palm Beach Central in the district tournament. The Jupiter game will be the last game until after Thanksgiving.
Once December hits, Santaluces and Atlantic will be on tap. The game with the Chiefs will have both district and conference implications. Atlantic will be a tough game as the past two seasons the Cobras have just squeezed by them 2-0. Park Vista will start a long home stand that will start with Olympic Heights, which will start a tough week. On Wednesday, Regional quarterfinalist Palm Beach Central will also come to town then its regional finalist Boca Raton will end off the week. Boca and the Cobras have a long history of tight games, however last season it was a 6-1 finals disappointment that is still on the minds of all. Seminole Ridge and Forest Hill will be the games during exams week, before the Adidas Christmas Tournament. The past two Adidas Tournaments, the Cobras have gone 4-2 with a seventh and third place finish.
After the new year, the final district game of the season will be played at Park Vista against Royal Palm Beach. Then, besides some of the big district games, most likely the game the players can't wait for will be West Boca. West Boca ended the Cobras undefeated season in the Adidas tournament with a 1-0 victory, however revenge was paid back with a huge 2-0 win on senior night. This year, it will be the Bulls senior night. The Cobras will then face American Heritage, one of the area's top team. The Stallions have been the state runner-up the past two season's losing in PK's both years. The last game of the season is slated against John I Leonard, which is a conference game. Last season the Cobras eliminated the Lancers from Districts. |
