Nate Roy Commits to Hofstra University Lacrosse
11/23/2008

Williams School junior Nate Roy has verbally committed to play lacrosse for Hofstra University.

Roy, a two year starting goalie, finished his sophomore season with a 5.50 GAA and a .74 SV%. He emerged as an instrumental part of a varsity team that finished with a 10-4 record and a second straight trip to the NE Prep School (NEPSCAC) playoffs.

Recruited by over a dozen Division I programs in the country, Roy narrowed his final list to Hofstra University, The US Naval Academy (USNA), Brown University and The University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

“I had a good gut feeling after my unofficial visit yet I was challenged by the Hofstra staff to make and informed decision and to see the other competing schools,” Roy said. “Coaches Tierney, Amplo, and Rewkowski were always prepared, communicated effectively, and showed passion for their program. More importantly, I saw that the Hofstra Administration is fully behind this program in its effort to win a national championship while educating their players for their future. Hofstra is the best fit for me academically and athletically. It is a place where I will have family, thrive on the field, thrive in the classroom, and have a springboard for a future career.”

The Hofstra Pride finished 10-6-0 last year and is coached by Seth Tierney who begins his third full season in 2009. Please click SCHEDULE to see the upcoming Hofstra season.
