 Veteran "ole" Ready For Another Season Blues Tryouts Start Eric Nelson - 9/25/2008 The Madison Blues kicked off their 2008-2009 hockey season at Hartmeyer Ice Arena Wednesday night with a open tryout format. Practice coach Chris Walby had plenty of new faces on the ice as the Blues welcomed 12 new skaters showing a wealth of talent . The 20 plus returning veterans from last season had plenty to show also as they were displaying to the rookies how they made it to the championship game with speed , crisp passing and great defence. The Blues will have 3 more tryout sessions before they take to the ice Friday Oct. 24th @ 8:00pm in a exhibition against West Bend. Notables coming to tryout for the Blues include Nate Lawrence a Stoughton native who played division 1 hockey last year for Alaska/Fairbanks, Matt Duffy a Mcfarland native who played his college hockey at MSOE and Edgewood all conference , goalie Alex Westcott. General manager Pete Goeser said " we want to win it all this year, and with the additions we have put on the ice, we have a great chance."  |
