SITE Spartan Stadium, 7:30 p.m.

RECORDS Jackson 3-3, 1-2; Boardman 5-1, 2-1

LAST WEEK Jackson 19, Fitch 6; Hoover 20, Boardman 9

LAST MEETING Boardman won, 28-0, last year.

WHAT TO WATCH Jackson started to get its offense going last week after struggling in recent games. The Polar Bears gained 310 total yards, making plays both running and passing. TB Steve Gardner rushed for 143 yards and delivered a 46-yard TD run late. QB Max Paulus and WR Ramon Brown continue to develop into a nice passing combination. They combined for touchdown passes of 18 and 20 yards. Jackson will need all the balance it can get against a stingy Boardman defense coming off a tough road loss. Jackson’s own defense came up with four turnovers last week, including three interceptions. Boardman has a variety of big-play threats, notably TB Damien Jarrett. The Spartans will be eager to get their running game going. A week after churning out more than 400 yards rushing, Boardman was limited to just 51 yards last week. The Spartans also need to protect themselves in the computer rankings. They dropped from third to seventh in Region 1. It’s a loaded region with Glenville, St. Ignatius, Mentor, Strongsville, St. Edward and Solon ahead of them, while Euclid and Warren Harding are among the teams behind them.
