Bugs Don't Quit, but Lose to Bums 16-11
Ed Johnson - 4/26/2009

The fans of the Bell Plaza Bums who came late missed all the action.  Going into the 2nd inning, it was already a 14-0 route. This game had all the markings of a 4 ½ inning mercy rule slaughter.  But the plucky Bugbusters still had some fight in them. Down 16-1 going into the 5th, the Bugs fought off elimination and made a game of it.

As left fielder Jeremy Palmer (auto fubar) and player/manager Harold Soria (back injury) were late scratches, the Bugs were once again forced into a patchwork lineup. Left field (Chuck Chapa), Right Field (Ed Johnson), 2nd Base (John Garza Jr.) and 1st Base (Bob Sparacino) were manned by players out of position. Yet, the Bugs started warming up in the 5th, scoring 10 runs in the final three frames. Geoff Ruberte, Jimmy Wismann and Adam Chapa led the way with three hits apiece. Young Adam led the team with 4 ribbies.

Unlike last week, when fans came from all over the west coast to see the Bugbusters (including Hollywood actress Jaime Soria),  the Bugbuster fans were noticeably absent this week.  The Bugbusters are putting out the call to their tremendous fan base to come out to the ballpark this upcoming week!
