Bugbuster stars Soria (left) and Wismann (right) Soria's 600th, Wismann's 400th Hits are Tournament Highlights Ed Johnson - 6/7/2009The Bugbusters made a rare tournament appearance at Mission College on Saturday. The Bugs were a little slow early on, dropping a 14-1 decision to the Wreckers at 9AM. But In game 2, The Bugs came alive, beating the Dirty Dozen 14-2. In that game, beloved Bugbuster icon Harold "Butch" Soria ripped a single for his 600th base hit of his illustrious career. In the very same game, long time Bugbuster Jim Wismann hit his 400th hit of his career. Jim is the 12th Bugbuster to reach the coveted 400 mark.
Brian Soria provided additional highlights to game two by hitting a single, double and HR in the onslaught. Big Steve Temores had a single, double and triple as well. Geoff Ruberte and Chuck Chapa each had three hits.
Alas, the Bugs were unable to hold the moment, as they lost game 3 to Santa Clara Billiards in an uninspiring 12-0 loss.
A good time was had by all. Special thanks to the Temores family for allowing Steve to play all three games!
