The Central Park Cubs were born in early 2008 and are effectively the bastard step brother of the current New York Beers. Seven of the current team are ex-Beers players.
In the 2008 season the newly formed Cubs found themselves playing in the New York RBI league - playing their games almost exclusively at their natural home in Central Park. Their first season was a trying one, winning only 3 games in their 18 game season. The highlight of the year was a gritty 4-2 win against the Stuy-Town Turtles, one of the city's better known and respected amateur baseball teams.
The Cubs are looking forward to the 2009 season with an expanded and more balanced squad, and a much improved pitching rotation.
