The Charleston Wolverines Junior Hockey Team first took to the ice in the fall of 2007. The team became the sixth member of the
Southeast Junior Hockey League (SEJHL). Following the team's first year, which included a runner-up finish at the Jr. C National Championship, the team moved up to the Jr. B level in the
Metropolitan Junior Hockey League (MJHL). The team's home rink is the
Carolina Ice Palace.
What is Junior “B” Hockey: Junior “B” hockey is comprised of Charleston’s elite hockey players ages 15-20 years old. Held to the highest standards both on and off the ice, this opportunity gives these young adults the chance to compete at the highest level while ultimately trying to land a college scholarship.
Who do they play: The Charleston Wolverines play in the
Metropolitan Junior Hockey League's (MJHL) southern conference, which is comprised of 10 teams from the Southeastern US. They will also play in various tournaments in the Eastersn US.
When do they play: The Wolverines begin the season in mid-August and play until March.
Where do they play: The Charleston Wolverines will practice and play all home games at the
Carolina Ice Palace. The Carolina Ice Palace, located in North Charleston, has been a fixture in the Charleston community for over 10 years. With an average yearly attendance over 300,000 people, the Carolina Ice Palace has higher attendance than both the Riverdogs and Stingrays.
How can local businesses help: As a non-profit group, under the Carolina Youth Hockey Association, the Charleston Wolverines are in need of sponsorship. Although each player will be required to pay approximately $4,500 in dues, this is not nearly enough to cover travel expenses, equipment, ice time, and tournament fees. We ask that you please consider sponsoring the Charleston Wolverines as they pursue excellence on and off the ice in Charleston.
