Dragons advance to District Semis on Overton Forfeit 5/5/2009 The good news about Overton forfeiting their District 15-AAA quarterfinal game with Dragons is that Collierville advances to the semifinal match against either Kirby or Houston. That game has been rescheduled for Thursday May 7th to accomodate the Kirby/Houston quarterfinal rained out on Monday now scheduled for Tuesday.
The bad news about the forfeit is that Co-Captain Defender Kevin Hensley cannot use the Overton game as one of his two mandatory DNP's due to his red card in the season finale vs. ECS. Hensley must miss two games for impeding a player with a clear path to the goal. TSSAA has changed the ruling on "non-violent" red cards received in the normal course of play, but they do not take effect for Boys soccer until next season. The semifinal game would count as one game and a Collierville victory would mean he sits the 1st game in the next playoff round.
The Dragon coaches are making line-up changes and strategies to adjust to the absence of Hensley who orchestrated the defense at center back and finished the regular season as the team's second leading scorer behind left midfielder/forward Dillon Thornbury.
